The Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR), as the innovation engine of Novartis, focuses on translating early drug discovery projects into innovative medicine. The hematology team at NIBR’s Regenerative Medicine research group in La Jolla is looking for a highly motivated senior scientist to join a team developing innovative, transformative in vivo therapies for Sickle Cell Disease and other hematological disorders. There will be a strong emphasis on the application of novel delivery approaches, and development and application of genome engineering technologies.<br><br>Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:<br><br>• A crucial role in the development of novel therapeutic concepts and will contribute at all stages of a project, from inception, early project validation, optimization, candidate selection and through early clinical development of novel medicines for patients with hematopoietic disorders<br>• Proficiency in molecular biology, molecular cloning, sequence and protein analysis, real-time PCR, cell culturing, transfection and transduction methods <br>• Deep understanding of gene editing tools and principles. Experience in gene editing such as CRISPR and next generation technologies is preferred<br>• Experience in using gene delivery methods (viral and non-viral) is preferred<br>• Independently designing, executing, and interpreting experiments <br>• Coordinating and collaborating with other Novartis departments, external academic and business partners, and CROs to conduct research studies<br><br>[#video#https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXumFqhsHG8{#400,300#}#/video#]
