Job Purpose:<br>(No relocation assistance is being offered for this position.)<br> <br>Design, create, execute, and troubleshoot new procedures and assays. Should exhibit moderate to high level of independence while working on multiple projects. Will contribute to launch of new platforms/assays or manage projects of strategic importance. Candidates must demonstrate critical thinking, initiative and be able to manage success and failure of their projects. Able to communicate with other departments including commercial and external partners. Guide and/or collaborate for successful execution of projects and processes. May participate on cross functional teams and projects. Independently prioritize multiple projects and work load with minimal supervision. Identifies challenges and communicates risks to leadership in an expedient manner. May serve as technical lead for assay development and/or execution of clinical sample testing from concept to completion. Be able to work under minimal supervision while consulting with peers as required. May provide direction to more junior associate in the lab.<br>ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES<br>Note: Other duties may be assigned.<br>• Works in a GMP/GCP/GLP/CLIA regulated environment and is responsible for following all applicable regulations<br>• Design, create, execute, and troubleshoot new procedures and assays <br>• Authoring and reviewing technical documents including but not limited to work instructions as well as the assay<br>• Plan & execute laboratory research and testing of patient specimens<br>• Perform maintenance and function tests of complex instruments<br>• Work directly with external vendors to resolve QC and equipment issues<br>• Ensure quality control testing is performed and is within acceptable limits<br>• Train and assist staff with technical and operational procedures<br>• Identify and troubleshoot problems that may adversely affect test performance/results<br>• Using critical thinking skills, analyze data for trends making recommendations to more senior scientific staff.<br><br>OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES<br>• Ensuring that Quality Events such as incidents and deviations are proper documented, and for supporting/owning the immediate remediation and preventative actions<br>• Ensuring change requests are properly initiated, completed, and approved prior to the use of the assay, system, instrument, software, etc. being changed<br>• Maintaining up-to-date training records and ensuring training is complete prior to performing specific job functions<br>• Following approved and effective procedures to perform specific job functions, and ensuring procedures accurately reflect activities being performed<br>COVID-19: <br>While Novartis does not require vaccination at this time, for certain Novartis sites in the US all associates and candidates may be required to either upload an image of their COVID-19 vaccine card demonstrating proof of full vaccination for COVID-19 (or other similar evidence of vaccination) or proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken by the associate or candidate within the past seven days to enter any of our sites and/or customer office or healthcare facility, as well as prior to participating in other work related off-site meetings.
