Job Description

The Screening & Compound Profiling Group is seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist with a strong background in the development of physiological relevant cellular assays to join our Quantitative Biosciences Department at our Research Laboratories in Kenilworth, NJ. The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to develop cell pharmacology assays to support screening small molecules, peptides and arrayed CRISPR for oncology, immunology, neuroscience and cardiovascular disease areas. The ideal candidate will have experience with a variety of cell-based assays, with an emphasis on complex cellular models and high-content image analysis and functional genomics. Knowledge and understanding of miniaturized assays (384w/ 1536w) and downstream detectors ranging from standard luminescence-/fluorescence-based readouts to imaging and cell-microarray based platforms is desired. Using innovative thinking, state-of-the-art facilities, and robust scientific methodology we collaborate to discover the next medical breakthrough.

Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on experience in the areas of cellular assay development with proficiency in high-content image screening and analysis using primary cultures and cell lines.

  • Develop arrayed CRISPR screening applications in cell lines as well as complex disease-relevant models (primary cells, co-cultures, 3D culture)

  • Focus on high throughput (HT)-complex cell models (3D, iPSC, co-culture systems) to enable the development of ‘assays at scale’

  • Ability and willingness to think “outside the box” to develop and adopt emerging cell biology technologies to support HTS (i.e. microfluidics, cell microarray platforms).

  • Collaborate with Project teams to develop innovative approaches to target-based and phenotypic screening for small molecule discovery efforts

  • Ability to oversee and manage the design, planning and execution of robust scientific research activities is required

  • Solid understanding of data analysis workflows and statistical principles used in screening.

  • The successful candidate must be able to collaborate in an integrated, multidisciplinary team environment

Minimum required education and experience:

PhD with 0-3 years of experience, Master's Degree with 3-6 years of experience or a Bachelor's Degree with >10 years of experience in assay development and high throughput screening, with the ability to succeed in a collaborative, highly matrixed environment.
