Position Summary

The Associate Scientist in the analytical development group will plan and execute experiments to interrogate the phenotype and function of gene-modified T cell drug products in partnership with senior staff.

This role will be responsible for participating in laboratory experiments to develop new and manage existing and novel flow cytometry methods and technologies intended for drug product release testing and/or characterization.

The Associate Scientist will be a member of matrix teams within the cell therapy analytical development group and participate in the training, transfer, and lifecycle management of existing and novel flow cytometry methods.

Additionally, the Associate Scientist will demonstrate proficiency in flow cytometry, next generation cell interrogation techniques, and immunology concepts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lab-based role responsible for planning and executing method development, qualification and transfer of release or characterization methods for clinical-stage CAR-T/TCR programs in partnership with senior staff.
  • Troubleshoots and solves technical problems pertaining to flow cytometry methods with internal QC and/or operations teams.
  • Regularly presents findings and communicates with the team and other internal/external collaborators, as needed.
  • Maintain a thoroughly documented ELN.
  • Draft new and/or modify protocols, SOPs and technical reports in partnership with senior staff.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize effectively and work well in highly matrixed team environment with flexibility to navigate dynamic project goals.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) with 4+ years of experience, Master’s Degree (MA or MS) with 2+ years of experience, or doctorate (PhD) in Immunology, Cell Biology, Cancer Biology or related field. Exceptions may be made in certain cases.
  • Familiarity with molecular and cellular immunology concepts and techniques.
  • Proficiency in flow cytometry including in vitro T cell functional assays and tissue culture.
  • Proficient with flow cytometry analysis software (FlowJo, FACSDiva, FSCExpress, etc.) as well as experience with statistical software (JMP, R, Spotfire, Prism, etc.).
  • Experience with BD Flow Cytometer instrumentation (FACSCanto, Fortessa, Symphony, Aria, etc.)
  • Proficiency in assay development and qualification desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • A desire to self-teach and an ability to seek answers independently.
