The Immunology, Cardiovascular, Fibrosis, and Global Health (ICFG) Thematic Research Center (TRC) at BMS is one of the fundamental Research and Early Development (R&ED) units delivering therapeutics to patients. Our mission is to create transformative medicines of tomorrow based on the cutting-edge science of today. We leverage BMS’s internal invention of engine that includes industry-leading expertise in small molecule chemistry, protein biotherapeutics, cell therapy, protein degradation, nucleic acids, and other therapeutic modalities. We work closely our R&ED colleagues in clinical and non-clinical development, project leadership, translational medicine, and informatics to advance therapies based on a deep understand of causal human biology. Further, we collaborate across the biopharmaceutical ecosystem to establish partnerships that complement our internal expertise.

We are seeking a Principal Scientist - In Vivo Pharmacology who will have scientific and managerial responsibility for a group of scientists conducting in vivo research in inflammation and autoimmunity. This individual will report to the Head of the In Vivo Pharmacology Group and will interact seamlessly with other scientists and functional groups within a drug discovery team to formulate and implement the in vivo strategy for Immunoscience programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • The major focus of this position will be the in vivo evaluation of novel therapeutic agents that will support the drug discovery and early development effort.
  • Additional responsibilities include the identification and validation of novel disease and target specific biomarkers, and the development of new pharmacodynamic and disease models for autoimmune indications.
  • Other responsibilities include supervise technical staff with extensive scientific knowledge.
  • Prepare, review, and deliver scientific presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Interact with senior management and key opinion leaders.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Ph.D. in Immunology or related field, with a minimum of 6 years’ experience, preferably within the Pharmaceutical/Biotechnology sector.
  • Knowledge of the Immunology/Inflammation therapeutic area with a strong in vivo background is essential.
  • Extensive understanding of PK/PD assessments in models of disease and experience in designing ex vivo studies to assess pharmacodynamic and target engagement endpoints, is also a must-have.
  • The position will require strong scientific and managerial skills and the successful candidate will have proven leadership ability, a strong collaborative style, excellent communication skills, and a publication record in peer reviewed journals.
