Position Summary

We are seeking an individual with oncology translational research and early clinical development experience to join the Translational Research (TR) team within the Mechanisms of Cancer Resistance Thematic Research Center (MoCR TRC) at Bristol-Myers Squibb in Cambridge, MA. The qualified candidate is highly motivated, collaborative, creative, and can work across a highly matrixed organization to advance programs from lead optimization, through IND enabling activities, and ultimately clinical Proof of Concept.

This individual will be responsible for developing and executing translational research and biomarker strategies for MoCR TRC programs. This individual will bring scientific and technical expertise with emphasis on oncology biomarkers, early clinical development, technology platforms commonly used for biomarker analysis, and cross-functional matrix management.


Position Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute translational biomarker strategies for programs within the MoCR TRC with a focus on target engagement, pharmacodynamics, mechanism-of-action, patient/indication stratification/selection and rational combination partner selection.
  • Partner with key cross-functional stakeholders including clinical trial physicians, clinical scientists, clinical pharmacologists, biospecimen sample managers, clinical operations, drug discovery biologists and early development leads to execute and deliver your translational and biomarker strategy
  • Analyze, synthesize, and communicate biomarker data from early phase clinical development trials
  • Support the authoring of essential documentation including clinical trial synopses, clinical trial protocols, CSRs, and internal governance communications.
  • Ensure that biomarker plans meet established program standards (within budget, on schedule, compliance, etc.)
  • Communicate key biomarker program information, risks, and milestones, within team and continues to define, revise and progress biomarker plans as projects progress

Desired Experience

  • Ph.D. plus postdoctoral training in cancer biology, immuno-oncology, or equivalent advanced biology degree, with some (2-4 years) industry experience ideally supporting translational research and biomarker activities for a clinical stage program
  • Experience in the discovery and implementation of pharmacodynamic and predictive biomarkers using preclinical models
  • Intimate knowledge of and extensive hands-on experience with relevant molecular and cell biology techniques along with biochemical and cell-based assays
  • Experience in the field of immuno-oncology is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to recognize, articulate, and accept calculated risks to make informed decisions
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where speed is paramount
  • Demonstrated experience in appropriate application of various scientific technologies into translational research strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively influence stakeholders in a dynamic, matrixed organization
