Position: Sr.Associate Scientist

Location: Brisbane, California

Seeking a Sr. Associate Scientist to join a multidisciplinary, cardiovascular-focused Pharmacology team. The primary function of the role is to perform in vivo experiments to test pharmacodynamic effects of novel small molecules and to characterize them in models of cardiovascular disease. A secondary function of the role will be to support development of new models of heart failure. This role will support drug discovery efforts to deliver novel drugs to treat cardiovascular disease.

• Perform in vivo studies to assess cardiac function (e.g. echocardiography, hemodynamics), following pre-established protocols and IACUC guidelines.

• Collect and prepare various tissues for in vitro analysis and biomarker evaluation (e.g. WB, ELISA, histology).

• Develop preclinical models of heart failure to support internal program needs.

• Support hypothesis-driven research by designing and executing new methodologies and experimental protocols based on literature search.

• Independently analyze, interpret, and communicate results to internal stakeholders and ensure accurate recordkeeping.

• Bachelor or Associate degree with 5 years relevant experience or MS degree with at least 2 years relevant experience (in cardiac disease models and/or cardiovascular assessment).

• Small animal handling experience including dosing and blood collection by multiple routes.

• Microdissection or surgery on animal models is preferred.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, meet deadlines, and prioritize work on multiple projects.

The starting compensation for this job is a range from $79,000 - $100,000, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility). The starting pay takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed. Final, individual compensation is decided based on demonstrated experience.
