We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to join the Discovery Biologics group at our site in South San Francisco. Primary responsibility is to head the protein expression function within the Protein Sciences department. Role entails coordinating with various groups (i.e. protein engineering, protein purification and characterization, antibody discovery) as well as project teams to design, produce, and distribute proteins for all aspects of biologics discovery. The successful candidate will proactively identify new technologies and processes to continuously enhance capabilities and efficiencies and will represent the department on project teams.

Education Requirements

• PhD with a minimum of four years of related experience or a Master of Science with a minimum of eight years of relevant experience in protein science and biologics discovery

Experience and Skills

Required

• Expansive expertise in the protein production of various classes of biologics molecules

• Strong experience in protein expression platforms, especially transient and stable mammalian systems

• Expertise in biologics construct design and molecular biology

• Knowledge of automation and sample management

• Managing individuals or groups

• Establish and communicate streamlined workflows

• Work with IT to enhance databases and request systems

• Working with CROs for molecular biology and protein production

• Knowledge of biologics drug development and project management

• Principled and strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
