Leidos has an opening for a Research Scientist to provide support to assist a Department of Defense customer in performing its research and development mission. The research scientist will perform a variety of tasks that include:

  • Research, analysis, engineering concept studies, and documenting findings.

  • Conduct research and analysis and provide support for the improvement and development of analytical models that predict system signatures and describe the effects of technologies

  • Develop the test plans and associated documentation for technology demonstrations of technologies

The employee will work both independently, and as part of small teams. They will coordinate as needed with the customer technical project team, and subject matter experts and scientists from other organizations.

Though not frequent, there is a possibility for occasional travel on this project.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and document research on emerging technologies and their application and effects

  • Summarize significant findings, present and discuss them with the government customer and technical team

  • Develop, review and assess concepts, theories, and research from other sources and provide summaries and recommendations to the government technical team as appropriate.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree with 15+ years of relevant experience, or Doctorate degree with 13+ years of relevant experience

  • Currently possess an active Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance

  • Proficiently communicate in the English language, both orally and in writing

  • Competently use MS Office applications

  • Travel up to 10% to locations within the continental US

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience within the ARL program office or another government research agency
