What you’ll be doing...

Verizon’s Strategic Sourcing organization is seeking a dynamic professional who is interested in joining our team to manage our Contingent Labor category. You will develop strategic sourcing requests for proposals (RFPs) and participate in the evaluation of supplier responses.

Work with cross functional teams (CFTs) in determining the business and technical requirements, and assist in drafting language to translate them into requirements for related documents (i.e. statements of work (SOW) and/or RFPs for distribution to Verizon’s contract managers and/or suppliers.

  • Lead contract negotiations regarding business and pricing terms with suppliers.
  • Learn Verizon’s sourcing policies and apply them effectively to assist business partners with the sourcing process.
  • Conducts analysis of supplier proposals and present evaluation of responses to cross functional teams for consideration and selection.
  • Monitor contracts that are reaching expiration and work with the business partners to take necessary action for renewal or termination.
  • Monitor spend to ensure contract compliance and identify opportunities for savings.
  • Stay current with industry trends for your category and become a trusted advisor to our business partners.
  • Apply critical thinking and sound judgement to propose recommendations.
  • Build collaborative relationships with our internal business partners as well as strategic relationships with our suppliers.

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Three or more years of Indirect Sourcing experience.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree, or equivalent advanced degree.
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) from the Institute of Supply Chain Management.
  • Accounting or Finance experience, professional or academic.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong issue resolution, negotiation, and project management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Team player and leadership skills.
  • Self-motivated /self-starter with ability to work independently.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with experience in influencing others.
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in an evolving environment.
  • Ability to solve problems to ensure business and financial issues result in sound recommendations.
  • Experience with PowerPoint and Excel pivot tables.
  • Experience in drafting and redlining contracts.
  • Knowledge of basic information security and data privacy concepts (as they pertain to negotiating contracts).
  • High level of comfort working with technology.
