About the Opportunity

The ability to work remotely within the United States may be available based on business need. This option is not available in the states of California, Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Montana, Nebraska, New York, Oregon or Washington at this time.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Development and support of internal applications using Visual Studio, VS Code, .NET Framework, using Angular & C#.
  • Migrate or develop applications to Microsoft Azure as PaaS, or On-premise private cloud or mobile devices.
  • Building and deploying mobile optimized web applications that are focused on ease-of-use, task-driven functionality, and a consistent user experience across multiple mobile devices and operating systems.
  • Management of source code repositories, builds, and deploys using Microsoft’s Azure DevOps
  • Develop & drive the adoption of standards and governance to ensure FirstEnergy’s Microsoft development platform remains stable, reliable, and secure for all users.
  • Active participation in a collaborative work environment on your team and with other teams throughout the enterprise.
  • Availability to work flexible hours to support our Microsoft application portfolio.
  • Frequent interaction with business owners/stakeholders to gather requirements for new development projects, assist in defect resolution during testing, etc.

An employee hired at a Level IV, will be expected to perform the above responsibilities with expert-level proficiency and in a more independent manner.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer/Management Information Systems, a related degree required with a minimum of 4 years related experience. In lieu of a degree, 6 years related experience required
    • Related experience includes, but is not limited to: Proficient use of C#, CSS, HTML, OData, REST, Json, Angular, JavaScript and/or jQuery, PowerShell
  • Minimum of 2+ years development experience leveraging the .NET framework (4.0 or later / .NET Core), C#, and Visual Studio 2017 or later.
  • Experience/Knowledge using Microsoft’s Azure DevOps to manage source code, manage developer tasks and bugs, and perform builds/deploys.
  • Experience developing against SQL Server 2016 or later, Azure SQL DB, Oracle may also be required depending on the project/assignment.
  • Solid working knowledge of MVC 5.0 or later
  • Strong working experience in Angular 8 or greater
  • Solid working knowledge of Entity Framework 6 or later including Code-First Migrations
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and solve problems in a production support environment; possess analytical skills to effectively resolve technical problems, identify and implement process improvements, and think creatively.
  • Must be skilled in both oral and written communications in order to contribute to meetings and capture requirements as well as write documentation, specifications, procedures and process flows.
  • Willingness to undertake assignments involving unfamiliar subjects and possesses an aptitude to learn quickly.
  • Proven team player, contributes to team goals, encourages and supports team members.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours and be available for call-in and after hours support if needed.

Qualifications at the Level IV include all the above, plus a Bachelor Degree in a related field and a minimum of 7 years related experience required. In lieu of a degree, 9 years related experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Has worked and been an active participant on a Scrum team or similar Agile methodology.
  • User interface component development using tools like Telerik’s Kendo UI
  • Experience developing applications that work with Azure application services / Resource Manager.
  • Knowledge of rich client frameworks such as Angular
  • Experience utilizing OData web services across .NET applications.
  • Experience with Bootstrap mobile-friendly framework for web development
  • Automated unit testing using MS Test, nUnit, xUnit or similar testing frameworks.
  • Experience with Fakes, Moles, Moq, Rhino Mocks or similar mocking frameworks
