The Information Technology team at our Company's R&D division is looking for a Data Engineer. Reporting into the Product Manager, Data Publication Service, this position will work closely with Product Managers within the Product Line.
The data engineer develops and constructs data products and services and integrates them into systems and business processes. Primary activities include designing and developing high quality and secure data pipelines and processes that access, move, clean, transform, integrate, structure, store and visualize data. He or She may support analytics from a deep understanding of data architecture, data engineering, data analysis, reporting, visualization and a basic understanding of data science techniques and workflows.
Designs, implements and maintains data pipelines through different data layers (ingest, data transformation, reporting)
Schedules data pipeline activities
Defines data storage structures and manage data storage.
Advises on the Ways of Working on Data Analytics projects.
Understands the business meaning of data and reflects data concepts in data transformation.
Assists with design of complex reports as data engineering SME.
Gathers and processes raw data at scale.
Discovers opportunities for data acquisition.
Conducts the processing and cleaning up of data sets.
Recommends and implements ways to improve data reliability, quality and freshness.
Understanding of virtualization tools
Data warehousing / data integration concepts
Education Minimum Requirement: B.S. degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
Required Experience and Skills
The candidate should have 1-2 year of Information Technology experience in the areas of Data Engineering and Information Management.
A strong understanding of data management concepts, design principles, and best practices is required. Experience with methods and tools of Data Engineering are required. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are mandatory. The ideal candidate has practical experience transferring big data in & out of AWS and transforming, computing in AWS at scale.
Preferred Experience and Skills
Prior 1 year of pharmaceutical related experience is desirable. Skills in data modeling and design are preferred. Strong ability to work independently and a demonstrated ability to succeed in a dynamic and complex team environment are preferred. Experience with SQL, Data Ingestion, Integration & Virtualization technologies and Cloud Computing is preferred.
Experience with Agile data engineering concepts such as CICD, pipelines, and iterative development & deployments is preferred.
