Description

Leidos has a career opening for a Chief Engineer supporting the Maritime Chief Technology Officer within the C4ISR Operation. This position will report to the Maritime Chief Technology Officer in the execution of proposals, programs, problem solving and all other duties consistent with superior execution of the Maritime portfolio.

Primary Responsibilities
As the C4ISR Operation Maritime Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the viability of maritime programs in execution, helping shape proposals with solid engineering approaches and systems engineering discipline, and lead the course correction of underperforming programs. This position demands an experienced maritime-focused engineer with familiarity across multiple disciplines including surface and subsurface vessels (crewed and uncrewed), underwater sensors, acoustics, ocean engineering, and related areas. It is mandatory that the candidate have a strong background in engineering and production of systems at the program of record, high-volume level (desired) or low-rate initial production level (minimum). Demonstrated experience with lessons learned (failures and successful mitigation) is essential in being a successful candidate.
Strong leadership talents are a must with the ability to lead, direct and manage high-end engineering staff. Duties will include technical and risk reviews of proposals and white papers, contributing to proposals and white papers, evaluation of technical staff and resources, and a support to the Chief Technology Officer in engagements with customers, subcontractors, and vendors. This position reports to the C4ISR Maritime Chief Technology Officer under the Office of Technology in Leidos. This position will directly support both the Maritime Systems Division and Gibbs & Cox Division within the Operation, but the primary focus is undersea and the Maritime Systems Division.

Basic Qualifications
•Masters/PhD with 15+ years prior relevant experience. Additional years exeprience with and Bachelors may be used in lieu of MAster's degree.
•Degree Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or related field with 15+ years of prior relevant experience or
•United States Citizen
•Must hold an Active Secret Clearance at minimum. TS/SCI desirable.
•Engineering domain experience including:
•Technical authority to ensure flawless execution on existing programs,
•Management of multi-disciplinary engineering teams, integrated product teams, working groups, and trade studies – ownership of the technical baseline,
•Management and oversight over rigorous system engineering processes and tools to include requirements management, baseline management, risk management, configuration management, schedule management, verification and validation, and reporting,
•Driving discrimination and innovation in the system engineering process and tools in areas such as Digital Engineering,
•Developing, enforcing, and improving engineering policy, standards, best practices, and management, and
•Strong oral and written communication skills, along with public speaking skills
•Ability to influence and persuade others, as well as handle difficult negotiations requiring a well-developed sense of engineering execution


Preferred Qualifications
• US Navy submarine experience or strong familiarity
• Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) experience or strong familiarity
• Conversant in autonomy and autonomous systems
• Program Management experience or training including DAWIA or PMP
•Familiarity and use of standard program management tools such as Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), Earned Value Management System (EVMS), etc.

Proficiency with the Following:
• US Navy operational experience or US Navy lab, Engineering Duty Officer, or R&D experience, or FFRDC/UARC/research center experience with Navy programs
• Intelligence Community understanding or experience

Knowledgeable and/or Experience with the following:
• US Navy and IC procedures for managing Programs of Record
• Manufacturing in at least the Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) arena if not full rate production
• Naval operations and doctrine

Pay Range:

Pay Range $142,350.00 - $219,000.00 - $295,650.00
