Description

Leidos Defense Systems is seeking a passionate, detail-oriented problem-solver to serve as a Data Analytics/Modeling and Simulation Engineer to support the Advanced Materials Department. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

The Advanced Materials Department is a multi-disciplinary team that provides materials engineering expertise for every phase of a program. With backgrounds in materials science, chemistry/chemical engineering, physics, among others, the department has experience in executing a variety of efforts from R&D, to prototype development, to supporting design and build tasks for manufacturing. Beyond subject matter expertise, the department has the analysis equipment, multi-physics modelling capability, and experimental lab space to support activities ranging from proof-of-concept experimentation to manufacturing support.

As an integral member of the Advanced Materials Department, the successful candidate will serve as a Data Analytics/Modeling and Simulation Engineer. This position will balance multiple activities including but not limited to:

- Support multiple Leidos programs in the areas of data analysis and physics based modeling & simulation for advanced materials and hypersonic applications

- Work with internal and external partners to develop modeling tools for the metal additive manufacturing industry as well as hypersonics and extreme environment materials research

- Solving complex engineering challenges with both analytical and experimental approaches.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Data Analytics, Modeling and Simulation, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET accredited institution with 2+ years or Master’s Degree
  • Experience executing modeling and simulation supporting projects or programs (aerospace or defense preferred)
  • Must be a resident of Crane Indiana area or willing to relocate in order to work on-site at the Crane, IN office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with metal additive manufacturing and/or compositing techniques.
  • Familiarity with additive manufacturing software packages such as 3DXpert and NX Additive Manufacturing
  • Experience writing software to analyze and convert large datasets into different formats.
  • Experience assembling and providing technical briefings and clear guidance to non-technical audiences

Pay Range:

Pay Range $65,000.00 - $117,500.00
