What you’ll be doing...

You will be a part of the Global Network & Technology organization focusing on the strategic technology evolution across our organization specifically with onboarding and orchestration of virtualized network functions. As part of this team you will lead Verizon's network function onboarding portal and configuration automation platform roadmap, deliverables, and support.

  • Work with various Verizon Network and Application Planning teams from various business units to identify opportunities to automate manual tasks involved in onboarding a VNF(Virtualized Network Function)/CNF(Cloud Native Network function)and automate them using a centralized platform you will lead to continuously evolve based on business needs.
  • Work with world-class engineers involved in virtualizing network functions to develop automation in support of E2E VNF/CNF onboarding lifecycle, starting from the time vendor products arrive to the time products are deployed.
  • While identifying opportunities to automate manual work involved in onboarding the VNFs, use/contribute to creating the standards needed to automate onboarding, and automate manual work.
  • Analyze the business needs for automated onboarding & orchestration to continuously enhance Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery tool chain with a goal of sustaining a stable and repeatable platform.
  • Lead new feature design, development and continuous maintenance with innovative ways to reduce time-to-market.

In this remote role, you'll work from home with occasional in-person trainings and meetings.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with the following tools & technologies or equivalent : Java/Spring boot, JavaScript, React.js, Unix, Python, Kubernetes, Artifactory, Docker, Jenkins, SonarQube, Fortify, Junit, Git, Micro services, SOAP/REST, MongoDB.
  • Experience with deployment or use of configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible, Jenkins.

  • Experience with designing and building complex, enterprise grade applications.
  • Knowledge of cloud-native application architectures.
  • Knowledge of OpenStack based Cloud Platforms.
  • Knowledge of NFV and SDN products, technologies, architectures, and vendors.

Even better if you have:

  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience in a majority of the following areas:
    • OpenStack CLI commands and administration.
    • Linux/Unix scripting especially for TCP/IP stack, Firewalls (iptables), DNS, VPNs.
    • API development based on JSON, XML.
  • Knowledge of network device configuration and management (Juniper, Cisco) with NetConf network configuration protocol and YANG data model.
  • Analytical skills, written and verbal communications skills with the demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience with Software Defined Networking principles or system.
  • Experience onboarding VNFs on to NFV Orchestrators.
  • Knowledge of server provisioning using cloud-init and cloud config.
  • Knowledge of TOSCA and YAML based file formats.
  • Knowledge of ETSI NFV Standards for descriptors and interfaces
  • Knowledge of HOT Templates.
