What you’ll be doing...

The Principal Engineer – Interconnect role is responsible for supporting the Submarket Transport Engineering Teams with data analysis of Transport tools with an emphasis on FUZE SPM and Granite/CND platforms. The position requires a level of expertise that allows for fast and accurate investigation of wireless network tool issues and implementation of interim and permanent solutions. You will be managing a team for all the data analysis, troubleshooting, and solution implementation. You will also partner with sub market engineers for technology analysis and driving Verizon priorities, strategic interests and objectives. Project management and coordination between system tool owners, support teams, and regional end user groups to perform root cause analysis, process creation, develop standards, and data clean-up initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in a team or independently in a fast-paced corporate environment.
  • Collaborate with developers, engineers and managers to understand and define requirements and prioritize the requests from end users that can potentially impact the business.
  • Decision making skills by making appropriate use of all available information and data; anticipating the future and preparing accordingly; recognizing the impact of decisions upon the rest of the organization; receiving broad guidance; being accountable for broad project results; and being responsible for the leadership of broad programs in support of organizational or area strategies.
  • Work as a part of a cross-functional team to assist engineers with the understanding of the workflow and assistance with their business related issues based on the updates on the new data systems.
  • Work with sub markets teams to insure tasks and goals are on schedule. Work closely to achieve an effective Transport solution for our business goals.
  • Understanding goals, setting timelines, interpreting data trends, and driving solutions amongst cross functional teams.
  • Report generation from various systems and databases, reconciliation of data, provide quality assurance, test plan creation, strategic analysis, troubleshooting, and critical thinking.
  • Summarize results of reporting and analyses, making recommendations to the managers, engineers and end users in a clear and concise manner.
  • Train end users and provide technical expertise on new system functionality, resolution strategies, dashboards, reporting, accessing data, examination and process implementation.

In this hybrid role, you will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

***This role can be located out of any US based Verizon hub location.****

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • End-to-end wireless Transport network experience.
  • Knowledge in programing, data analysis, and data analytic tools.
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and dashboard software.
  • Willingness to travel 25% of the time.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field of study.
  • Experience in the wireless and/or telecommunications industry as a Transport Engineer.
  • Experience with FUZE SPM and Granite circuit database.
  • Must be self-motivated, show initiative, and be able to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills needed.
