Position Summary


IT Business Analyst for Global Biometrics and Data Sciences (GBDS) will be responsible for the effective delivery of IT capabilities, products and services supporting the Global Biometrics and Data Sciences functions. This role will collaboratively partner with colleagues across various functions within Global Biometrics and Data Sciences to understand their information technology and digital enablement needs. This role will have responsibility for enhancing the quality of products and services, analyzing data to inform business decisions, and finding technological solutions aligning to business needs that drive value for the overall BMS (Bristol Myers Squibb) and GBDS IT strategy. IT Business Analysts will work across the matrix IT organization to drive portfolio execution from ideation to value realization, providing domain expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate and assist/lead the development of business cases in support of the roadmap and aligned with the product or platform strategy. Define, measure, & achieve business outcomes for highest value (at the lowest cost) digital capabilities.

Translate product roadmap features into well-defined product requirements including features, user stories, sprints and acceptance test criteria.

Work in an Agile environment and continuously review the business needs, refine priorities, outline milestones and deliverables, and identify opportunities and risks.

Prioritize and maintain the sprint backlog for assigned products, balancing the requirements of stakeholders. Lead the product functional design process based on an intimate knowledge of the users and technology. Develop and maintain appropriate tracking and reporting of product performance post-launch to evaluate future investment.

Facilitate business process change within the relevant divisions and functions.  Develop strong collaborative relationships with IT colleagues across BMS Information Technology to ensure delivered solutions and services can be appropriately leveraged and value realized.

Partner with the Lead Product Manager, Technical Lead, Business Lead, and other IT colleagues as part of a Product Team to review and assess demand requests, explore ideas and enhancements, and evaluate legal / regulatory requirements and ongoing business-driven change initiatives leading to value driven business cases and well-defined implementation plans.

Create IT documentation artifacts in support of an agile technology implementation model, including but not limited to requirements specifications, process diagrams, user acceptance test plans, traceability matrices, and wireframes.

Evaluate various technology options including new data science, analytical, computational and visualization software and provide recommendation

Assist data scientists with choice of data sources, technology and tool selection

Ensure all AI/ML solution development is in line with industry standards for data management and privacy compliance including collection, use, storage, access, retention, output, reporting and quality of data

Assist data scientists in their needs with a strong understanding of advanced machine learning including neural networks, NLP and variety of classification and predictive algorithms

Qualifications & Experience

Proficient in business analysis techniques such as business and functional requirements gathering, process modeling, interviewing, user stories, prototyping, data flows, and root cause analysis

Excellent communication and relationship building skills with the ability to interact and build trust across different levels of the organization.

Knowledge of testing activities including Functional Testing, System Integration Testing, Regression and support User Acceptance Testing.

Hands on experience in one or more of the following:

Good knowledge/experience in data science technologies (Python, R, SAS, building models, dashboard analytics, etc.)

Machine/Deep Leaning – machine learning algorithms and platforms, neural network

Language – Natural language Processing, classification etc.

Experience in key AI platforms such as AWS sagemaker

Experience in key machine learning and deep learning framework e.g. Tensorflow

Experience in working on enterprise software products leveraging AI/Machine Learning technology

Experience in understanding data and information technology including Big Data trends

Experience working in a DevOps environment & using industry standard tools like GIT, JIRA etc.

Ability to clearly articulate the R&D data capabilities roadmap, status of requests and issues both with functional teams and technology teams

Good influence and facilitation skills

Strong project management skills

Good understanding of Data Management principles

Experience in driving adoption of process changes

Strong analytical skills

Knowledge of application of innovative quantitative methods in drug development process

Experience working as a IT business partner/senior business analyst/data scientist

Experience with advanced data modeling and business intelligence techniques

Experience in Pharma industry (Global Drug Development or R&D or analysis & reporting or clinical or data management preferred)
