Business Process Specialist – Technology Governance

  • Help drive IT management for key governance elements related to strategy, architecture, project & portfolio, application life cycle, infrastructure & data, vendor & sourcing.
  • Acts as a change agent within the performance and service management space to drive transformational change, sponsor change initiatives, and enable others to innovate
  • Helps establish and implement continuous improvement programs for the IT organization and integrates improvement initiatives to create a culture of continuous improvement ensuring achievement of departmental goals
  • Helps drive the Governance program for all IT investments to include auditing and reporting against strategy and business KPIs
  • Develops and maintains IT policies, procedures, methodologies, and governance as well as ensures performance management frameworks and metrics exist to optimize value delivery
  • Works collaboratively with other corporate oversight functions to identify and implement consistent

Key Accountabilities

Project Planning & Management

  • Define project scope and schedule while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value; organize and lead project status and working meetings; prepare and distribute progress reports; manage risks and issues; correct deviations from plans; and perform delivery planning for assigned projects

Process Management & Improvement

Team Development

  • Assist in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work; leveraging organizational resources to improve capacity for project work; and mentoring and developing team members
  • Promote empowerment of the team, ensure that each team member is fully engaged in the project and making a meaningful contribution, and encourage a sustainable pace with high levels of quality for the team
  • Perform as a team of strategic, creative, and technical professionals who partner with our clients to solve business problems and meet meaningful business goals

Process Owner Support

  • Support the T&I leaders in managing customer expectations for project deliverables, managing stakeholder communications, and helping to implement an effective system of project governance.
  • Engage closely with clients to understand what business objectives they want to accomplish through technology enablement and then work with the T&I team of developers and designers to bring those ideas to life
Knowledge/Skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Project, Visio, and all Office Tools Strong knowledge of business process modeling solutions, e.g., ARIS. Working knowledge of digital technologies and applicability for the water and wastewater industries
  • Sufficient level of technical background to provide highly credible leadership to development teams and to be able to accurately and objectively evaluate complex project risks and issues

Experience/Education
  • 12 + years of total work experience required providing business process analysis for large, complex projects in a high-tech development environment with multi-functional teams with additional experience focused on business process excellence and technology optimization
  • Practical experience leveraging Lean / Six Sigma concepts is preferred. Experience with the water utility industry is desired, but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Systems or similar field is required. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Masters or MBA will be a plus
  • Certified Business Process Professional [CBPP] certification will be a plus
  • Over 3 years of progressive Information Technology experience with demonstrated ability to lead IT operational processes including IT Governance, Business Management, IT Investment Prioritization, and Project/Program Management.

  • Demonstrated experience in leading process improvement and organization change initiatives as well as experience leading IT project governance processes

  • Experience working with relevant regulations in IT & utility industries
