Primary Role

  • Senior Manager, Business Analysis oversees the utilization of T&I’s Business Analyst team who serve as primary liaisons between internal and/or external customers and T&I teams to define business requirements for software applications , systems implementation and enhancements to meet internal customer and organizational objectives and needs
  • This individual will build customer focused relationships with internal and/or external customers to align business objectives with technology project objectives, and continuously enhance the organization's ability related to their domain expertise and problem-solving abilities.
  • The Senior Manager , Business Analysis will coordinate with other T&I teams and present recommendations on high impact proposals, requirements documents and solutions development which is project specific
  • They will manage the development, growth, and capability of the Business Analyst team and delivery services
  • They will provides domain specific subject matter expertise (advisory) to the business and keep updated on current trends in the marketplace.
  • They will facilitate and coordinate the approval of day to day recommendations of the business analyst team related to SLA's, operating procedures, governance structures, and metrics for process improvement
  • As a team lead, this role will assess status reports, change requests, and requirements documentation to ensure smooth project progression. They will conduct post project analysis and create recommendation reports to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements. Also, coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise new project team leads, team members, and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and manage the Business Analyst team aligned with build/buy/enhance and deployment of a technology initiatives
  • Design and implement methodology for business requirement gathering sessions and documentation
  • Assist BAs with the management and prioritization of requirements gathered from multiple sources, scope management, and stakeholder management techniques as needed
  • Manage plan requirements for complex technology dependent projects throughout System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Establish processes for the collection of business requirements, technical specifications, design review, test planning and execution
  • Work in alignment with business functions and T&I to ensure business strategy, goals and schedules are met
  • Create strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning
  • Identify project issues and mentor/coach to resolve as needed
  • Maintain business analysis and project documentation repository
  • Establish standards for communicating business requirements to vendors
  • Develop and maintain management reporting on KPI’s, key drivers and metrics related to the deployment of the technology solutions
  • Demonstrate behaviors which are aligned with the organization’s desired culture and values
  • Participate in quality management reviews, including design, prototypes and other work products.

Knowledge/Skills

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of foundational technology operations and digital solutions relevant to business processes
  • Ability to identify requirements/backlog of IT projects and their alignment with company’s overall business strategy, and the impact of the requirements/backlog
  • Understanding of latest technological and process advancements in the utility industry’s operations and business functions
  • Strong experience with requirement analysis, SDLC, Agile and Waterfall framework, Agile Central, JIRA, MS Office tools
  • Strong knowledge of business process modeling and process mining solutions, e.g., ARIS. Celonis
  • Working knowledge of digital technologies and applicability for the water and wastewater industries
  • Understanding of industry and business unit regulatory environment - GAAP, Tax regulations, etc.
  • Strong Knowledge of domain specific business processes and industry leading technology applications supporting those processes
  • Good experience in an information technology discipline ideally with specialization in business/systems analysis and/or project management

Experience/Education

  • 12 + years of overall experience with Information Technology / Information Systems
  • 7 + years of experience in business analysis, business process modeling, process engineering, and/or software development
  • 3 + years of experience in a leadership/management role
  • Proven track record of successful team leadership and development
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent
  • Masters or MBA will be a plus

  • CCBA - Certification of Competency in Business Analysis
  • CBAP - Certified Business Analysis Professional
  • AAC - Agile Analysis Certification
  • CFLBA - Certified Foundation Level Business Analyst
  • PMI Certification
