The Vice President of PVS Shared Services will maintain responsibility for various contributing components to the K-12 Virtual School product development and delivery, including but not limited to Configuration Management, State Reporting, Enterprise Architecture, Agile Facilitation, Training, and Go to Market activities across the organization.

The position reports to the SVP of Product and Technology and works closely with the Executive Leadership Team to align with the strategic vision of the organization. The VP of Shared Services will collaborate with key stakeholders and business partners including Product Solution, Engineering, Customer Success, Global Technology and finance to name a few, providing key resources and deliverables to the PVS Agile Release Trains.

The VP of Shared Services will directly support the teams and function that are shared across multiple Agile Release Trains in support of Product delivery. These are key teams and functions but is not all inclusive

Enterprise Architecture – Own, define, and evangelize PVS architecture at the strategic enterprise level, educating product, engineering, and marketing consumers, partnering with Global Technology and Architecture on best practices and strategic direction

Agile Facilitation – Support the shared agile facilitation resources comprised of Scrum Masters, Release Train Engineers, and various other program/project support personal in achieving SAFe Agile consistency and excellence

Client Services & Technical Account Management – Manage non-code school services & configuration items, device management, and data in legacy virtual school platform, Saleforce.com, ServiceNow, etc.

State School Reporting – Support the varying reporting needs of 40+ state virtual schools across varying reporting and data technologies (SQL, SSRS, PowerBI, Access, etc.)

To ensure these teams success, the VP of Shared service will also be responsible for:

  • Continuous Improvement - Create a culture of Continuous Improvement in which the Shared Services teams continually strive to identify opportunities to deliver increased service value to their internal business partners.
  • Talent Development - Lead the effort to attract, engage, recruit, and hire a winning team that is focused on creating a winning product and a winning culture. Developing people by listening, reflecting, and coaching – lead by example, and foster a positive culture around failing fast.
  • Builds and fosters effective working relationships with key internal business partners across the organization to create an environment of transparency and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate and work cross-functionally with the engineering, product and customer services teams and address stakeholder concerns.
  • Support Solution Product Management in delivering capabilities and innovations that enhance the value proposition of products in our portfolio in alignment with the product strategies and Pearson’s overall strategy.
  • Ensure alignment with key stakeholders on product development plan and expected returns from new capability investment. Incorporate stakeholder inputs into the development of product improvement plans.
  • Track and report on key performance metrics of the various shared services teams’ outputs and deliverables

Training/Competency

  • Business Relationship Management leadership at an Enterprise level, managing equally up and down the organization
  • Track record of effectively delivering large scale programs through Agile practices with consistent velocity/throughput improvements
  • Comfortable leading matrix-based teams (direct, indirect, partners, etc.)
  • Proven ability to successfully lead people through organizational changes and challenges
  • Analytical Skills - Strong ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem
  • Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Evidence of strategic & analytical thinking, negotiation skills, problem-solving, planning skills, and good judgment is required

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required (Communication or Business)
  • 10+ more years of supervisory experience in managing and leading teams
  • 5+ more years of software delivery experience
  • SAFe Scaled Agile familiarity
  • Previous education experience a plus
  • Proven track record of first-class leadership skills; able to inspire and motivate teams around a continuously evolving agenda designed to delight our customers
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking/long term opportunities with operational focus
  • Passion for education and learning
  • Possesses a global outlook and approach
  • Demonstrates a centered, value driven leadership style
  • Operates as a self-aware, effective team player
  • Experience of working and thriving in a global matrix organization
  • Knowledge of Microsoft and Google business applications preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS), Educational Management Systems, or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is preferred
