System Engineer Mid ( R-00052586 )
Leidos seeks a Mid-level system engineer with a demonstrated ability to independently achieve day-to-day objectives in the creation, decomposition, allocation and tracking of requirements on a large, complex simulation based training system. The position will work in conjunction with more seasoned system engineers and architects to develop a more in-depth understanding of the system details, and to support end-to-end traceability of the requirements on the components assigned to this position. Responsibilities will include interaction with less experienced integration and test staff, training staff and external partners to ensure all nuances of the requirements traceability are met.
A successful candidate will be responsible for technical requirements and traceability from product design all the way thru final acceptance. The system is a complex interrelated and distributed system of systems providing simulation based training to the DOD. Multiple complex interfaces will be necessary and interactions between system components will require a strong analytical ability to identify potential issues early in the process. A successful candidate should be comfortable in a highly collaborative environment and be assertive enough to provide opinions, solutions and defend decisions. Tasks will encompass all program aspects including planning, system hardware-software-network design, development and integration, verification and validation, and fielding.
A successful candidate will accept top level direction from the overall system architect, and develop technical solutions aligned with accepted DODAF principles. Candidate will be responsible for ensuring their solution aligns with internal, external and user community needs and defining necessary conditions for final test and acceptance. A successful candidate will be able to thrive in a rapidly changing environment and demonstrate initiative to find answers when the problem requires additional clarification of definition. A successful candidate will be familiar with and able to use DOORS and Magic Draw as engineering tools. This candidate will be expected to be conversant with Agile aspects such as backlog and user stories.
