What you’ll be doing...

This is a senior-level position within our practice. You will perform tasks that are required to maintain and advance our cloud environment. This includes interfacing with tenants and peer support teams. To be, you will be proficient in system administration, network administration, and the virtualization disciplines of both subjects and excel in technical theory and documentation. You will participate in feedback loops with upstream resources that will shape company direction. You will embrace new technologies in order to support Verizon cloud strategies.

  • Interface with peer teams to provide direction and shape operational practices.
  • Collaborate with tenant application teams, working to understand application flow and cloud requirements ensuring effective placements of strategic tenants.
  • Lead the Operations team’s automation initiatives and strategies, by consistently consuming technical initiatives in advance of the core teams and tenants.
  • Engage in the open source communities participating in upstream collaborations that relate to our cloud operations practice.
  • Build automated solutions frameworks that allow the Systems Operations team to make consistent changes to the cloud platform.
  • Propose the most optimum technical solutions in order to drive industry "best in class" KPI results and state of the art customer experiences.
  • Provide direction and guidance on solution designs and work closely with the development and implementation teams for solution delivery.
  • Collaborate with product and project managers, other architects and developers to define architectural standards, define deliverables and project estimates.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Eight years of related work experience.
  • Knowledge ofOpenStack and Kubernetes disciplines.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in Computer science or related technology disciplines.
  • Ten or more years of experience in related technology fields.
  • Ten or more years Linux engineering and architecture (RHCE or equivalent proficiencies).
  • Ten or more years of network engineering and architecture (CCIE or equivalent proficiencies).
  • Communication skills and technical writing proficiency.
  • Experience working modern configuration management tools (Puppet, Ansible).
  • Experience with distributed storage solutions (iSCSl, Ceph, Swift, other).
  • Experienced Linux systems administration (prefer in Virtualized environment).
  • Experience with networking concepts and protocols (include SDN, NFV).
  • Experience with network design and implementation practices in an enterprise environment.
  • Deploying and supporting various distributions of OpenStack (RedHat, Canonical).
  • Deploying and supporting various distributions of Kubernetes (OpenShift).
  • Software design/engineering and strong scripting skills (e.g. Python, Shell, Ruby, Perl, other).
  • Contributions to open-source projects.
  • Technical writing for enterprise-level environments.
