As a Data Analyst, you will join an elite team committed to changing health care through outstanding service and valuable products. You'll use innovative tools including the largest database of health care information in the world. You will perform mathematical analyses and actuarial modeling to identify statistical findings and conclusions. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support data-driven, code-based analytics and projects
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with our broader product team
  • Participate in client relationships and communications
  • Prepare information for clients, build reports, and assist with project scheduling and coordination of tasks
  • Execute creative problem solving and critical thinking on the job
  • Perform quantitative analysis on Actuarial, financial and utilization data
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy along with attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication skills, solid interpersonal skills, and the ability to always meet deadlines
  • Take accountability for work within a fast paced, exciting environment and learn from challenges as they arise

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (STEM field) or equivalent experience
  • Experience working in a consultancy, actuarial or healthcare field
  • Solid technical aptitude, such as programming experience with R, Python, SAS, or SQL
  • Aptitude and solid interest in statistical modeling techniques such as linear regression, logistic regression, etc.
  • Ability to learn quickly and use computer software tools effectively
  • Expertise working with formulas, calculations, charts, graphs in MS Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completed or progressing through Master’s degree (STEM field) or Actuarial professional exams
  • 2+ years of consultancy, actuarial or healthcare industry experience
  • Experience with coding (at least one of R, SAS, SQL, Python, VBA)
  • Business analyst and/or customer facing experience
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, including written and verbal forms of communication
  • Proven analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work proactively and collaboratively on all assignments with various teams both internal and external to Optum
  • Eager to learn about and work on a variety of different projects/assignments
  • Flexibility to handle changing priorities/requirements/deadlines

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $66,100 to $118,300. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $72,800 to $129,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
