Analyst Trainee (Posting #016-23)
The Department of Children and Families (DCF), Office of Data Management and Reporting seeks a qualified candidate for an Analyst Trainee position. This position will report in-person to the Office of Data Management and Reporting in Trenton, NJ and may be eligible to work remotely for up to two days in a calendar week.Under the direction of a supervisor in a State department or agency, as a trainee and productive worker, receives on the job training in analytic practices/procedures and application and research and preparation of reports, completes assignments which will provide practical analyst experience and/or learns to review and analyze financial reports; does other related work.
RESPONSIBILITIES* Developing new, as well as, updating existing dashboards using Tableau Desktop, Tableau Prep and Tableau Server* Assisting in database collection system development* Design visualizations with modular design of reports, worksheets and views in Tableau with an understanding of the appropriate chart types (Bar charts, Line, charts, scatter plot, Heat Maps) data* Enhance existing dashboards using Tableau Desktop, Tableau Prep and Tableau Server* Develop dashboards with Tableau parameters* Assisting in developing, testing, improving and maintaining new and existing databases to help users retrieve data effectively* Applying critical thinking to gather requirements from an internal stakeholder and adjust for external users to create interactive dashboards in Tableau* Validating figures from official sources* Organizing data in a clear and understandable format* Clean, standardize and validate data
REQUIREMENTSEDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
SPECIAL NOTE: Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
* Hands on experience with SQL
* Some working knowledge of Tableau Desktop
* Proficient in MS Excel, i.e. Pivot tables, page layouts, VLOOKUP
* Proficient in data visualizations tools, i.e. Tableau
* Data analysis
* Experience with large data sets
* Critical thinking skills
* Detail oriented
* Strong written and strategic communication skills
* Attention to details to be able to validate values and provide deliverables

ADVANCEMENT: Appointees who successfully complete the 12-month training period will be eligible for advancement to the Administrative Analyst 1 title under Civil Service Commission procedures. The inability of an employee in this title to attain a level of performance warranting advancement to the title listed above shall be considered as cause for separation.

SALARY: $46,431.86 - $48,531.07
