The People Analytics team at Optum provides insights and perspectives on our employee population that allow us to fulfill our mission to help people live healthier lives and to help make the health system work better for everyone.
In this role, you will be an integral part of the Optum People Analytics team and report to the Director of People Analytics supporting Optum. You will develop and implement tools to drive improved decision making and business performance by providing executive insights and key trends to People Business Partners.
You will collaborate with the team to translate business objectives and challenges into analytics projects, prioritize, share best practices, and deliver analytics and reporting of key business trends to People Business Partners.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with People Team business leaders and the analytics community in the development and production of standard and ad-hoc reports to drive actionable decision making
- Support recurring reporting needs and maintenance of self-service reporting tools
- Create and maintain internal process documentation and customer-facing help documents
- Develop templates/dashboards for common requests to standardize and streamline work
- Identify ongoing process improvement opportunities and demonstrate improvement of defined processes in consultation with stakeholders
- Research and identify root causes for problems and own the resolution
- Responsible for leading others through influence, rather than direct authority, and by building solid cross-functional relationships with key partners
- Act as a functional subject matter expert for broad People Team data subject areas
- Support projects and change initiatives as assigned

Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience analyzing business, financial, People Team or clinical data
- 2+ years of report development and dashboard building
- Trained and applied experience in data visualization techniques and user experience in delivering insightful metrics that lead to action with experience in tools such as Tableau or DOMO or a similar software
- Proven experience researching issues, investigating the data accuracy, and perform quality checks
- Demonstrated experience working independently and collaborating effectively with others
- Proven documentation and process mapping skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Intermediate experience in data extraction, manipulation, and management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (lookups, formulas, pivot tables, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Business, or a related field
- Experience with Microsoft Access, Oracle, SQL Server, Alteryx or other database applications
- Experience in People Team analytics and/or reporting
- Proficiency of SQL/HiveQL (select statements, counts, filters, group by, order by, etc.)
- Experience in agile and/or project management
- Experience partnering and working with global business partners
