Job Description

The computational toxicology group of the Non-clinical Drug Safety (NDS) department of our company's Research Laboratories is seeking individuals with experience in predictive analytics, and related data science disciplines. This individual will hold an essential role within the Investigative Toxicology group of NDS, by applying the state-of-the-art data science and Artificial intelligence (AI) approaches to help project teams address critical safety and toxicology issues, and influence discovery/development stage-gate transition. Specific responsibilities and requirements of this position are outlined below:

Responsibilities:

• Build and validate in silico models for toxicology endpoints across small & large molecules, and new emerging modalities.

• Work collaboratively with project teams across different compnay sites to deploy, influence, and increase the awareness of in silico toxicology approaches in selecting chemical series and prioritizing in vivo toxicology resources.

• Engage with investigative toxicology scientists and discovery projects toxicologists to generate specific hypotheses applying data from ‘omics platforms, high throughput toxicity mechanism-based assays, in vivo endpoints & predictive biomarkers to understand mechanisms of toxicity/off-targets better.

• Use statistical algorithms, network-based methodologies, and cheminformatics skills to perform project-specific analysis of our company's proprietary and public domain chemical and biology datasets.

• Participate in dose-toxicity response modeling, adverse outcome pathway (AOP) analysis, and other safety data analysis using off-the-shelf tools and methods.

Requirements:

• Ph.D. degree in cheminformatics, bioinformatics, computational biology, biomedical engineering, and related data science fields.

• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as python, R, and Javascript, is required.

• A self-motivated individual with a high level of autonomy, strong analytical skills, and experience working in a cross-functional environment.

• In-depth knowledge of data science techniques, and ability to communicate the application of AI/ML approaches to the non-data scientist.

• Previous experience working in pharmaceutical drug discovery/development, plus

• Domestic travel 5-10% required.
