Job Description:

Leidos’ Government Health & Safety Solutions Group is looking for a Data Scientist to work on the platform technology that has a broad capability of utilizing the Real World Evidence to expedite identification, testing and clinical utility of the combinations of repurposed drugs to enable cost-effective treatments.

The Clinical Data Scientist will be responsible for:

  • designing queries that collect evidence of the efficacy and safety of combinations of three drug in the available RWD databases;

  • for gathering drug and clinical research insights from EHR and claims data;

  • for discovering insights and identifying opportunities through the use of statistical, algorithmic, mining and visualization techniques.

This candidate will leverage prospective analytics and use data mining, data analysis, automation, and machine learning methods, to measure performance and quality of insights. This candidate understands all aspects of the job including de-identified EHR and other medical data review processes. The review is used to confirm that data quality on initial review meets acceptable data standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately examine data using the common data structure document prepared by the FDA Foundation-run Evidence Accelerator to obtain insight regarding the information within the data.
  • Conduct reviews of EHR data using various technologies, analytic and visualization tools to extract the quality of data and relevant patient safety and drug efficacy information.
  • Use exploratory data analysis to build expertise in the strengths and limitations of complex data sets to assist in identifying the right analytical approach given the available data
  • Engineer and prepare data from disparate systems.
  • Integrate and prepare large, varied datasets, design appropriate data science models and algorithms, and professionally communicate results.

Experience and Education:

  • Master’s Degree with 2+ years’ experience within a highly technical/quantitative discipline (Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, etc.)
  • PhD degree in Statistics or Biostatistics, with up to 4+ years of experience in life sciences.
  • Strong working knowledge of data mining algorithms including machine learning techniques such as regression, decision trees, probability networks, association rules, clustering, deep learning, neural networks, Bayesian models, etc.
  • Proven ability in generating advanced insights and predictive capability from statistical models.
  • Proven ability in generating advanced insights and predictive capability from statistical models.
  • Proficiency in bringing structure to ambiguous problems and deriving insights from multiple data and information sources.
  • Proficient with the statistical analytic tools.
  • Proficient with performing data analysis using SQL, R and / or Python.
