What you’ll be doing...

Verizon's Artificial Intelligence and Data organization team is searching for an experienced, passionate and professional Principal Data Governance Architect. This Data Governance Architect will be responsible to design and architect a cohesive and structured Marketplace UI/UX with proper integration of Marketplace middle layer components, such as: user registration/IAM integration, workflow engine, data subscription, data publisher, data exploration & analysis and orchestration of middle/back end layers to data protection, catalog, exchange, data virtualization and visualization components.

This position will need to be comfortable working in abstract and ambiguous challenges. From discussion you may encounter challenges where no solutions known, this is where you will need to shine and see this as an opportunity to find the right solutions, suggest and follow up closely to make it into realization. This person must be able to deliver prototype or proof of concept which requires direct hands-on on the technologies implementation (including designing, coding, and showing how to connect the dots)

  • Design and implement a self-serve marketplace solution that enable publisher, subscriber, users, governance body, data quality and business stakeholders to collaborate and enable data sharing responsibly.
  • Design and manage solution for data product and data assets onboarding by solving the puzzle between data catalog, policy, protection rules and security within various platforms/solution under one marketplace view.
  • Translate stakeholder requests (BRDs) into proper design and implementation for team to work globally.
  • Work with IT data governance, security and policy teams to source authoritative data and prepare the right framework that reusable for self-serve solution.
  • Able to manage multiple projects, setup priorities, timelines and right expectations as needed.
  • Design and promote the use of self-serve solution for data product and assets onboarding.
  • Ensure operational readiness of the services and meet the commitments to our customers regarding reliability, availability and performance.
  • Engage closely with—and ensure products/projects meet the needs of—key stakeholders across Verizon and within Verizon DG&A, including data strategy, governance, and operations.
  • Build relationships and collaborate closely with technical leaders within Verizon’s GTS (Global Technology Services) group to enable effective technical implementation of data projects and products.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with J2EE Full stack, NodeJS, Microservices, RESTFUL/API Implementation knowledge for building self-service tooling from UI to back end database.
  • Experience with data warehouse technologies (Teradata, Hadoop, Google Biq Query, and RDBMS).
  • Experience working with Data Catalog / Data protection and data virtualization frameworks (ICP4D, TIBCO/Denodo, IBM Guardium, Protegity / Privacera, etc.)

Even better if you have:

  • A degree. A Master’s (or PHD) in Computer Science or Information Technologies.
  • Experience with at GCP configuration, caching and GCP data Governance & Visualization.
  • Experience on design, building, and supporting self-serve large-scale enterprise systems in production.
  • Experience on any responsible data exchange framework.
  • Experience with distributed data/computing tools: Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, MySQL, etc.
  • Experience / had exposure working with any of file/data ETL instrumentation tool (NIFI, Kafka, SSIS, Informatica, Alteryx).
  • Experience visualizing/presenting Data using: Tableau, Qlik, Thoughtspot, Looker, any GraphDB (neo4j, tiger), D3, React framework.
  • Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SLQ, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
  • Experience designing and integrating with security and authorization tool (Sailpoints, Active Directory/LDAP, etc.)
  • Experience in an enterprise or cross-functional role.
  • Ability to understand write complex SQL and able to utilize Query Analyzer.
  • Strong critical thinking concerning tradeoffs across capabilities and requirements of different systems.
  • Strong knowledge of database concepts and alternative data architectures.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, setting up right timeline and expectation with various orgs (PMO, business owner, business enablement, security, etc.)
  • Verbal, visual presentation and written communication skills with ability to articulate concepts and ideas to diverse audiences at the right level.
