Leidos has a career opportunity for a SQL Database Administrator with experience with deploying, operating, and supporting MS SQL Server. The ideal candidate will have experience working within an Enterprise-Class database environment with experience with SQL Server and Azure/AWS.

This is a remote position with occasional travel to Leidos locations to attend meetings.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support routine database maintenance tasks, such as backups, patching, and monitoring, to uphold data integrity and availability.
  • Collaborate with fellow DBAs and customers to pinpoint and address database performance issues, enhancing query execution and resource utilization.
  • Aid in diagnosing and resolving database-related problems, offering timely support to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain precise documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Assist other DBAs in planning and executing database upgrades and migrations.
  • Monitor database health and promptly respond to alerts, ensuring system availability 24/7.
  • Work seamlessly with cross-functional teams, including developers and system administrators, to address database-related needs and requirements.
  • Demonstrate effective teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Coordinate with leads in other sub-systems, customers, and process owners to ensure seamless solution integration.
  • Explore new technologies and provide recommendations for their introduction into the data center environment.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and manage problem resolution, including root cause analysis.
  • Adhere strictly to company policies and processes, encompassing change control, security, corporate policies, ITIL, and Sarbanes Oxley 404.
  • Operate within a Scaled Agile Framework and actively participate in Agile Team events.
  • Offer after-hours on-call support on a rotational basis.
  • Emphasize a customer service focus as an essential aspect of the role.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field and 2-4 years experience working with Microsoft SQL Server. Additional years of relevant experience will be considered.
  • Strong interest in database administration with a desire to grow in this field.
  • Knowledge of relational database concepts (e.g., SQL, data modeling, indexing).
  • Demonstrate familiarity with various database management systems such as Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
  • Have a foundational understanding of database security principles and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate) are a plus but not required.
  • US citizenship is required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Oracle 19c and above experience
  • AWS and/or Azure Design and Operations experience
  • MS Windows 2016 / 2019
  • Splunk
  • Worked in an ITIL environment.
  • Experience in JIRA and working on an agile team.
  • Ability to estimate level of effort.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, develop relationships, and obtain consensus among interested parties.

Please note that we're budgeting closer to the midpoint of the salary range for this position.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $65,000.00 - $117,500.00
