Job Description:

The Leidos Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) Transportation and Logistics area currently has an opening for a Logistics Manager in Centennial, CO. The Logistics Manager will be responsible for the coordination of logistics for the Antarctic Infrastructure and Modernization for Science (AIMS) construction project to support the mission of the National Science Foundation (NSF). The successful candidate will be responsible for collaborating with the AIMS subcontractors, ASC T&L group, NSF staff/managers and coordinating the logistics requirements and functions required to support the construction project. The Manager will coordinate all logistical efforts in conjunction with ASC’s ongoing activities to ensure the efforts go according to plan, schedule and budget.

About the Antarctic Support Contract:

Leidos Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) is the prime contractor to the National Science Foundation (NSF) in support of the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). Leidos supports the NSF’s Office of Polar Program’s Antarctic Infrastructure and Logistics by aligning with their Mission and Vision Statements:

  • Vision: Expanding our scientific reach in Antarctica through increased operational and logistical effectiveness.

  • Mission: To provide the operational and logistical platform necessary for the U.S. to conduct world-class science in Antarctica and maintain its active and influential presence on the continent.

Leidos ASC provides science and logistics support for approximately 150 science and technical events across three geographically remote research stations; McMurdo Station, Palmer Station, and South Pole Station and several deep field sites across Antarctica. Each station or field site supports world class research across multiple science disciplines. The planning and implementation of science support requirements in Antarctica is a critical part of our mission.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as primary point of contact for AIMS subcontractor for coordinating logistics needs.

  • Attend Project Coordination meetings held by ASC, NSF, AIMS subcontractors.

  • Document and distribute project scope and logistical requirements to teams.

  • Coordinate with remote logistics team in Port Hueneme, CA for status updates, container requirements, customer issue resolution requests, PO delivery schedules, materials processing issues

  • Develop/refine logistics concept of operations for the various phases of the AIMS construction project.

  • Travel to project sites (Port Hueneme, CA and McMurdo Station Antarctica) will be required.

  • Coordinate project resources and plan long-range materials delivery and remote lay-down areas.

  • Day to day POC with the customer for active projects.

  • Liaise with subcontractors’ shipping departments to expedite flow of materials and goods into the Port Hueneme, CA hub location for receipt, processing and packaging for onward movement to McMurdo Station.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in technical or management field.

  • Possess 4+ years of experience with Integrated Logistics Support, Remote Site Logistics Support, Inter-modal shipping.

  • Understanding and knowledge of Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS).

  • High attention to detail combined with excellent verbal and written communication skills is necessary for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with remote/austere logistics chains.

  • Experience in Supply Chain Management is a plus.

Deployment to Antarctica is required for this position.

Must successfully complete the physical, dental and psychological (if applicable) examinations as required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust level Clearance.

US citizenship or US Permanent Resident Status is required.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $57,850.00 - $89,000.00 - $120,150.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
