This role sits within the Capability Change team for a major new government initiative, delivering life-saving capability for the UK MOD and Defence Personnel. The role involves managing the elements of Capability Change related to the introduction of new hardware, software and services including close engagement with the Asset & Configuration team and the joint programme management team. Working initially to the Ecosystem Manager and the Service Delivery Manager, this role will require managing the execution of hardware and software baselines, system and ‘system of systems’ configurations, documentation baselines, and other deliverables. The role includes the provision of weekly metrics reporting and reporting programme progress. The successful candidate will also support the development of a Knowledge Base and set of Working Instructions during the mobilisation phase of this new initiative.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for interfacing with a diverse service management and supply chain team, working across multiple organisations; a highly skilled engineering and architecture team; and Customer stakeholders. This will require excellent communications skills and interaction with staff and customers ranging from technical personnel to programme leadership.

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrable experience in delivering Product / Capability Change Management including the maintenance of processes.

  • Demonstrable knowledge with managing and supporting release management cycle to include hotfixes, defect tracking, production operations status reporting and the maintenance of minimum baseline standards.

  • Demonstrable experience in documenting releases, risks and in maintaining the schedule of planned releases and ability to lead software release meetings and oversee release team execution to deliver product on-time.

  • Domain knowledge of internationally recognised CM standards.

  • Experience with hardware, software and document configuration management processes, procedures and products including working with Databases.

  • Knowledge of ITIL V4, including experience in using it including how to define and apply compliant processes within a programme with a view towards continuous improvement.

  • Experience in delivering complex solutions for government organisations or private corporations using a diverse engineering and technology team

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to collaborate with testers, systems engineers, architects, software developers, management as well as ability to work across multiple teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and adapt quickly to changing requirements

  • Coordination with the service management organisation to modify processes or procedures as required.

  • Awareness of Trade Compliance issues, how to identify and escalate.
