The primary focus of this role is to support Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) as the Senior Manager or EOHSS within the Department of Environmental, Occupational Health, Safety and Sustainability (EOHSS) at the Manatí facility. The individual in this role will be responsible for leading the site’s environmental, occupational health, safety, and sustainability efforts within the internal manufacturing space to drive long-term company and stakeholder value. The position will support the execution of strategies to maintain a safe, healthy, and environmental compliant site. This position plays a key role in executing corporate and local policies and procedures. This role is a team play that enables and fosters a proactive and integrated EOHSS culture that promotes a positive, proactive approach throughout all site operations.

In this role, The Senior Manager will report to the site Lead Director within the department of Environment, Occupational Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EOHS) at the Manatí facility.

The Senior Manager will coordinate, implement, assess, and improve environmental, safety, occupational health, and sustainability outcomes at the direction of the associate director using global and local regulations and consensus guides, BMS management systems, policies, and procedures. The Senior manager will promote compliant, forward-leaning culture and preserve BMS’ reputation while driving shared Company objectives at the direction of the site Lead Director. The senior manager will be expected to approach the coordination of these tasks in alignment with the BMS values of integrity, inclusion, passion, innovation, urgency, and accountability.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for implementation of new and updating/improving EOHSS programs, policies, to ensure that they meet BMS standards, and compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, safety, medical surveillance, and sustainability laws, regulations, codes, rules, and consensus guides. Specially focus in Industrial Hygiene and Management Systems.

  • Accountable for understanding the business and the application to the regulatory framework to provide practical technical assistance to EOHSS programs and activities on-site. practical technical guidance.

  • Accountable for EOHSS regulatory preparedness and building rapport and trust through all interactions (external agencies and internal stakeholders)

  • Execute EOHSS programs and processes with a continuous improvement mindset

  • Participates in EOHSS operational and tier discussions, EOHSS committees and teams; and EOHSS self-assessments and audits at the direction of the site Associate Director

  • Stops operations and activities that could harm the environment, workforce, or facilities.

  • Solutions for systemic opportunities to eliminate unplanned events including spills, workplace injuries, accidents, and adverse health effects.

  • Collaborates on EOHSS governance structures and forums at the direction of the site Lead Director

  • System user of site EOHSS IT systems

  • Acts with integrity to provide accurate resolution of issues as they arise and is transparent in escalating site or enterprise impactful issues to the site Associate Director

  • Acts collaboratively with integrity and urgency (spend and quality) to practically apply emerging regulations and policies to the site processes and programs.

  • Applies innovation to continually improve the effectiveness and create bold solutions for workflows and processes and learns to apply new concepts

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of applicable Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.

  • Working knowledge and application in manufacturing environment with a focus on Environmental, Management Systems and Industrial Hygiene particularly compound banding.

  • Strong Incident Investigation and Corrective and Preventative Action skill set

  • Ability to flex with change and attend to multiple issues with a sense of calm

  • Operates with a high degree of transparency and integrity with excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proclivity for proactive partnerships and cross-team collaboration

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, self-motivated, and ability to work independently

  • Ability to influence within the EOHSS organization and across the site while sharing information for best outcomes.

  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Team, PowerPoint, SharePoint; aptitude and demonstrated proficiency in EOHSSs specific IT applications for reporting and inspection.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental, industrial hygiene, physical sciences, engineering

  • Advanced degree preferred.

  • Certified Industrial Hygiene, preferred

  • Professional Engineer, preferred

  • People leadership preferred.

  • Prefer certification through an accredited organization.

  • Prefer candidates with a six-sigma certification (green belt or above).

  • At least 7 years of direct EOHSS experience in manufacturing preferably pharmaceutical space.
