The Senior Manager/Associate Director of Oncology Competitive Intelligence develops and executes the Competitive Intelligence (CI) vision and strategy for specified solid tumor indications within the BMS portfolio, from early pipeline through to market entry and brand growth, in alignment with stakeholder priorities and/or brand strategic imperatives. This role works closely with disease area matrix teams (including leaders and teams in Commercial, R&D, Medical, & Market Access) to provide strategic support through the identification, analysis, and distribution of timely relevant business and competitive intelligence and actionable insights that inform the near- and long-term franchise strategies in Oncology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes the Competitive Intelligence (CI) vision and strategy for select tumors within BMS Oncology, in alignment with stakeholder priorities and brand strategic imperatives

  • Assesses the competitive environment and emerging scientific data to inform clinical, regulatory and commercial strategies for BMS investigational oncology and immuno-oncology assets, and R&D / Commercial decision-making regarding assets (internal and external), our portfolio, and our disease areas

  • Identifies and evaluates potential external development opportunities (assets, combinations, technology platforms, etc.)

  • Conducts analyses and research based on Key Intelligence Topics/Questions while adhering to consistent and established standards

  • Single point of contact for key client groups in customer-driven CI support model

  • Identifies, gathers, synthesizes and distills information from variety of sources (primary and secondary) into key insights

  • Translates insights into actionable recommendations for key stakeholders

  • Develops and delivers reports/communications that provide competitive insights and analysis of trends, issues, and opportunities

  • Implements all elements of internal CI model based on consultative engagement with key stakeholders, leading internal intelligence networks, coordinating the communication of intelligence, managing external CI vendors/partners, and leveraging relevant internal IT tools and platforms

  • Responds to ad hoc key business questions with expert analysis from Key internal clients/customers

  • Leverages, explores, and develops new ways to gather, analyze and synthesize data using time-series or predictive analysis


  • BA/BS required, MBA/other graduate degree preferred

  • 2-5+ years of relevant pharmaceutical industry experience preferred for Senior Manager

  • 7+ years of relevant pharmaceutical industry experience preferred for Associate Director

  • Experience successfully supporting business decision making in a complex and highly dynamic corporate environment

  • Deep expertise in conducting competitive analyses and generating actionable recommendations

  • Understanding of pharmaceutical development and commercialization process, as well as industry competitive dynamics

  • Demonstrated category knowledge in oncology, preferably immuno-oncology

  • Superior analytical ability

  • Ability to think strategically

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Proven ability to lead teams and influence cross-functionally in a matrix environment

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with diverse teams across organizational lines and structures

  • Ability to organize, synthesize and distill key information

  • Strong oral/written communication and presentation skills

  • Ability to quickly learn category and therapy areas

  • Hands-on experience with basic business software tools and environments (e.g., MS Office) and pharma CI data sources (e.g., commercially available clinical trial databases)

  • Experience with industry analytical tools or time-series analysis (such as SQL, Tableau, Python) is preferred
