We solveThe Autonomous Database Team is responsible for building the cloud service framework powering various Oracle Autonomous Database cloud services, including Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW) and Autonomous Transaction Processing (ATP). These are fully managed, elastic database cloud services that deliver workload-optimized performance and high availability. The Autonomous Database cloud service framework automates deployment, scaling and management of databases in the cloud and is built on top of Oracle's Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Layer.The framework features APIs to handle all lifecycle management operations of databases. It also performs operations autonomously based on internal and external events. The team has the unique opportunity to make significant contributions to the full stack of Oracle technology, from database kernel to cloud service platform and to customer-facing portals. Projects include enhancements to the core database kernel architecture, automation of tenant database lifecycle management, autonomous database management and tuning, integration with other Oracle cloud services, and extending platform for customers to build application services. The service team works on all aspects of the service: from design and development to support and automation of day to day operations. You will become a part of the team involved in multiple high-profile projects with high visibility across the Oracle development organization. Your responsibilities will include providing technical direction to a team of engineers to design and development of the code that underpins autonomous database service, as well as taking part in day to day operations of the service and coming up with ways to improve the service offering as well as the devops process.Desired Qualifications:+ Master's degree in Computer Science or related fields or equivalent experience+ 7 years of experience with at least 2 years in Cloud technologies+ Experience working with Cloud infrastructure APIs, REST API model, and developing REST APIs+ Strong database management knowledge and understanding of database eco-system+ Design large, scalable, and resilient systems+ Competency in programming with Java, Python, or PERL+ Strong understanding of I/O characteristics and storage systems+ Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skillsPreferred Qualifications:+ Hands-on experience developing services on a public cloud platform (e.g., AWS, Azure, Oracle)+ Building continuous integration/deployment pipelines with robust testing and deployment schedules+ Experience with continuous deployment tools (e.g., Teamcity, Jenkins)+ Ability to quickly pick up new languages and technologies+ Experience with Agile Methodologies, specifically Scrum+ Self-driven, able to work independently on a project even while the design is evolving+ Strong desire to stay on top of new technologies and services+ Passionate about learning+ Strong communication skills, including cross-team collaboration+ Ability to deliver basic functionality and iterate+ Development experience in Java (back-end)**Detailed Description and Job Requirements**Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture.Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of sections. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet Corporate specifications. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development.
