What you’ll be doing...

Verizon Connect has an immediate need for a Systems Engineer to join our Atlanta based team within our Global Operations organization. You will be highly competent, results driven as well as a highly self-motivated individual.

This role requires a service oriented mentality, high sense of ownership of the platform, focus on managing and resolving issues in a prompt & efficient manner, operating at a global scale, and delivering a highly available and scalable hosting infrastructure presenting a SaaS solution to our customers.

• Running and maintaining a 24x7 cloud-based production environment.
• Implementing and maintaining infrastructure using IaC pipelines and desired state tooling.
• Owning, tracking and resolving infrastructure related incidents and requests as part of on-call duties.
• Monitor the health of the fleet, automating system health, maintenance tasks, and reporting systems as needed
• Adapt and improve operations management systems and processes to accommodate growth, improve reliability and decrease time overhead.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Four or more years of relevant work experience.
• Three or more years of extensive systems administration experience in a large production environment.
• Experience troubleshooting issues and supporting a platform in an on-call capacity.
• Experience with scripting to automate repetitive tasks and improve operations.
• Experience administering Linux based systems.
• Knowledge of cloud based architectures.

Even better if you have:

• Experience managing directory services for authentication.
• Developing and supporting modules in languages such as python or PowerShell.
• Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code to deliver consistent deployment environments.
• Experience with desired state platforms for managing infrastructure.
• Experience in working as part of a geographically dispersed team.
• Ability to approach problems with a sense of ownership, enthusiasm and innovation.
