Our School Assessmentteamat Pearson , has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Web Developer to join our growing team in San Jose, CA. Working in a small-team environment, you will have a unique opportunity to play a leading role in designing and developing web-based delivery applications for the company’s line of spoken assessment products.

  • Design, develop and maintain robust, commercial-quality web products and solutions with compelling user interfaces and experiences
  • Contribute to our existing web application and services
  • Ensure efficient performance and scalability of all designs and implementations

  • Keep up to date on the latest industry trends in the web technologies
  • Demonstrate a passion for software development and high-quality code

Qualifications

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • 5+ years of professional experience building responsive, user-friendly web applications
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks and client-side state management using Angular, React.js / Redux or VUE
  • Expert and solid experience in in JavaScript, HTML/HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Ajax, Flash, Bootstrap, HTML5 Audio, MediaRecorder
  • Significant experience with building web components and front-end libraries for future use
  • Strong programming skills in Java, Spring Framework, Ruby on Rails
  • Solid knowledge in OOP and software design methodologies
  • Thorough understanding of architectural and implementation principles for web app and services development
  • Knowledge of Linux and cloud technologies such AWS
  • Experience in MySQL and MongoDB databases and in Tomcat and Puma application servers
  • Ability to work in a quick-paced, dynamic environment and a strong sense of project ownership
  • Excellent communication skills - written, verbal and graphical
