Senior Visual Designer

Are you constantly thinking about improving the design of your apps? Are you in love with typography, visual hierarchy, and dynamic UI? Pearson is looking for a Senior Visual Designer with a strong background in the Direct-to-Consumer space. You will be challenged in an organization that values innovation, execution, and persistence. You will take ownership of the visual design in our product by solving complex problems in simple, elegant ways that benefit the learning experience. Pearson product and UX teams are closely embedded with our engineering partners and each member is directly responsible for the team’s success.

Key Accountabilities

  • Shape and implement the team’s visual language by understanding and advocating for the learner’s needs from big picture to the smallest detail
  • Promote, experiment, and push our design system, style guide, and process to create best-in-class design solutions
  • Create elegant, accessible solutions to complex problems with rigor, clarity, and open-mindedness while bringing delight to our users
  • Strategize, lead, and deliver on user interfaces for multiple platforms (including Web, iOS, Android)
  • Clearly and concisely articulate design concepts, ideas, and analytics
  • Be proactive in fostering relationships with partners and teammates and mentor junior designers
  • Meet business objectives by collaborating with content, product, and engineering teams from concept through delivery
  • Champion user research and testing, ensuring usability and product consistency throughout the user journey and throughout our product ecosystem
  • Inspire creativity within your team, peers, and outward

Qualifications

Online portfolio demonstrating:

  • An expert eye for typography, detail, and color
  • Years of relevant design experience
  • Creative problem solving
  • Clear understanding of information architecture
  • An area of expertise – Accessibility, Illustration, Motion graphics

Expert experience in:

  • Partnering directly with UX Product Designers, Product Managers, and Front-End Developers
  • Current design tools including Figma
  • Articulating design rationale concisely and effectively
  • Working in an Agile, lean UX, and mobile-first environment
  • Building the relationship of visual, interaction, and content disciplines
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a design-related field
  • Excellent communication, self-management, and organizational skills
  • Collaborative by nature, contributing to a positive, team-centric culture
