Description

Job Description:

The Leidos Civil NISC IV program has an opening for an Instructional Systems Designer to support the Federal Aviation Administration. The candidate will provide training support for the Commercial Space (AST) Learning and Development Program to promote advancements in the training curriculum and enhance presentations for interactive training.

Specifically, the ISD will:

  • Consult with Instructional Systems Specialists to create design styles and templates for presentations, webpages, learning materials, and interactive multimedia in accordance with Section 508, the 1998 amendment to the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 for accessibility compliance (29 U.S.C § 794 (d). Conduct user testing and adjustments of style templates.
  • Create visual graphics, illustrations, graphs, images, animations and interactive multimedia from storyboards provided by Instructional Systems Specialists using Adobe Systems software to include the Creative Suite Master Collection, Adobe Captivate, and Articulate 360.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to create illustrations, charts, graphs, and diagrams that support engineering concepts for use in documents, presentations, and learning materials.
  • Work with workshop presenters to optimize presentations for learning.
  • Produce and edit videos, assembling text, audio, voiceover, music, video, graphics, and animation for use in AST presentations and learning materials.
  • Collect a comprehensive representation of commercial space industry photographs and video with appropriate releases and/or citations for use in AST L&D materials and presentations. Enter these into the media repository with additional, lower-resolution versions for optimized usage where necessary.
  • Develop a searchable media repository framework on a designated AST network location for photographs, diagrams, illustrations, animations, videos, and other media with capabilities for tagging, keywords, and information on subject, date, sources, copyright, and other relevant information for use in AST learning products and activities. The framework includes a user-friendly interface that provides a convenient method for users to search, update metadata, and add new media.
  • Maintain, populate, and tag the media repository with media created, provided, and collected from relevant sources.
  • Provide video support for capturing, editing (typically to remove all but AST personnel and improve quality) of workshops.
  • Be available for project meetings at the discretion of government lead and/or team as assigned.

Qualifications:

Extensive knowledge regarding the preparation, design, and creation of media and courseware. Knowledge of FAA standards, policies, and regulations. A good understanding of multi-media tools, animation products, and graphic software to include the Creative Suite Master Collection of Adobe Systems, Adobe Captivate, and Articulate 360. The ability to produce and edit videos, assembling text, audio, voiceover, music, graphics, and animation for use in AST presentations and learning materials. Experience creating and maintaining media repositories. Experience working in a commercial space or aviation environment, a plus.

Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined

education, with 2 - 4 years of prior relevant experience; or Masters with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience.

Highly Desired Qualifications:

Previous Instructional Systems Design work experience in the Commercial Space (AST), NASA, or the aviation environment. Experience working with Learning and Development training curriculum or interactive training programs.
