We are seeking an Associate Director, Digital Capability Management to join the Cell Therapy Development IT team, with end-to-end responsibility for managing the build and run activities for CTD technology assets.

Ideal Candidate Characteristics:  

  • Deep understanding of Benchling platform and core technologies at a Tier 2/3 level.

  • Experience coordinating with Benchling Engineering team, particularly in cases with time-critical needs.

  • Experience working with Benchling Product Specialists and Technical Product Specialists to identify root causes of issues, offer workarounds when possible, and present analysis and data to Engineering teams when needed.

  • Demonstrated understanding of scientific lab workflows/process in Cell Therapy Research.

  • Familiarity of Cell Therapy research processes (molecular biology, cell sciences, protein purification, flow cytometry etc.).

  • Demonstrated ability to translate scientific workflows/process into Process diagrams and User Stories for software configuration/development.

  • Experience performing root-cause analyses to appropriately triage and/or resolve back-end issues.

  • Experience in leveraging API endpoints to extend software for complex workflows.

  • +1 years of experience in a lab or research setting highly preferred, along with demonstrated ability to quickly understand complicated scientific concepts and empathize with scientists.

  • 1-2 years’ experience with LIMS, ELN, or other relevant scientific/informatics data management software (preferred).

  • Experience writing and debugging in a coding language such as SQL, JavaScript, R, or Python.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Owns end-to-end responsibility for managing the build and run activities for CTD technology assets ensuring they are reliable, accessible, & secure, with primary focus on the Benchling platform.

  • Manages Total Cost of Ownership (build & run) and the key drivers behind them to ensure cost efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Partners with Application Support vendor(s) to design, develop and implement innovative technology solutions with focus on best possible end-user experience.

  • Collaborates with Business and IT Plan function to define business requirements, project & enhancement timelines and budget, develop acceptance criteria, testing, training and change management plans.

  • Ensures design and configuration are documented appropriately and test scripts and scenarios are maintained.

  • Stays informed of new functionality for SaaS solutions with an understanding of Vendor’s future roadmap and alignment to BMS strategy.

  • Proactively looks for opportunities to improve, re-use and continuously simplify our IT environment.

  • Works in an Agile manner.

  • Ensures compliance to evolving regulations.

  • Demonstrate effective skills in contributing to cross functional teams, with strong verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills.


Qualifications:

  • BS degree preferred ideally in CS, CIS, MIS or equivalent. MS or related advanced degree is a plus

  • 10+ years of experience in IT with demonstrated success in delivering and supporting SaaS and custom-built solutions and managing/partnering with software vendors and service providers.

  • 5+ years of experience in a lab or research setting highly preferred, along with demonstrated ability to quickly understand complicated scientific concepts and empathize with scientists.

  • 3+ years’ experience with LIMS, ELN, or other relevant scientific/informatics data management software.

  • Experienced in working with managed service providers across multiple locations.

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to clearly articulate strategic capabilities and direction, status of requests and issues both with IT Business Partner Organizations and core functional teams.

  • Excellent collaboration skills, with the confidence to both influence and partner to build strong relationships with IT colleagues, busiess partners, external technology partners and service providers.

  • Ability to apply technical solutions to business processes.

  • Strong Project Management skills, and experience with agile and scrum methodologies.

The starting compensation for this job is a range from $149,000.00-$188,000, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility).

The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and the where the job is performed.

Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
