Job Summary

Amentum is looking for a retired U.S. Navy, submarines-qualified, Information Technology Subject Matter Expert to join our Training Team in Groton, CT. The lucky candidate will be placed in charge of the Amentum Team supporting the COLUMBIA (CLB) Class Submarine Fleet’s Training Systems Implementation Team (TSIT).

The CLB TSIT provides core experience, guidance, and subject matter expertise to support CLB logistics training and trainer development. The CLB TSIT has evolved from prior TSIT concepts for the TRIDENT, SEAWOLF, and VIRGINIA Class submarines. The CLB TSIT will apply fleet/training expertise and lessons learned to directly support PMS 397 and the Submarine Learning Center (SLC) in the review, validation, and verification of logistics products including logistics technical data and training. In addition to yourself, other submarine SMEs representing each technical rating aboard a ballistic missile submarine (active-duty military and civilian), administrative support, and an officer-in-charge will make up the entire team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review program documentation to become familiar with equipment on COLUMBIA Class
  • Review technical documentation as assigned by TSIT Officer in Charge (OIC)
  • Submit review comment sheets to TSIT OIC
  • Submit and manage Plan of Actions and Milestones for course creation to TSIT OIC
  • Review training materials submitted for technical accuracy
  • Provide input to course and trainer development

When ready in early 2022, your work location will be aboard the U.S. Submarine Base, New London, Groton, CT in building 499 Bledsoe Hall, 2nd Deck. Work accommodations will be provided either at the local Amentum Office or at the Submarine On Board training (SOBT) office in building 519 Darby Hall, 2nd Deck.


Minimum Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Bachelors Degree (or equivalent) and 11 years of job-related experience
  • Prior U.S. Navy training experience
  • Active Secret clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in Workforce Education
  • 20+ year retired U.S. Navy, submarines-qualified, IT specialist, E-6 or above
  • SSBN and/or USS VIRGINIA Class experience
