This position has the ability to be also located in our Cambridge Massachusetts facility. *

The Drug Product Expert Science & Technology will be involved in the establishment and the execution of cell therapy drug product development efforts, including but not restricted to formulation development, stability assessments, and technical management of external vendors. This individual will independently plan and perform experiments, analyze data, interpret and communicate results, draw relevant conclusions, write reports and other source documents for regulatory submissions. This individual will additionally contribute to risk analyses, provide support to CMC teams, and contribute to interdisciplinary technical development work in the larger Cell and Gene Therapy organization. Passion for cutting edge science and serving patients are also must haves.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Support cell therapy drug product development, technology transfer (internal and external), and filing activities for Novartis current and further cell therapy programs.

• Collaborate closely with peer function teams and communicate complex technical topics and decisions within the department and to program teams and provide effective technical leadership at the R&D-CMC interface.

• Support drug product clinical manufacturing (such as batch record review, deviation handling), and change control management related to drug product development activities.

• Work closely with supply team, clinical operation team, and device team to ensure safe and effective infusion of drug product at clinical sites.

• Regularly interface with external partners, monitor outsourced activities, and ensure deliverables according to Novartis standards.

Role Requirements

What you'll bring to the role:

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of industry experience, Master’s degree with 3+ years of industry experience, or a PhD with 0 - 1 years of industry experience. Degree in Immunology, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, or related discipline preferred.

• Direct experience of cell therapy drug product development is required. Experience in utilization of tools/equipment for cell therapy manufacturing and lab automation tools is preferred.

• Knowledge and practical experience in statistics is required. GMP experience and deep knowledge of relevant regulatory guidelines (FDA, EMEA, ICH) for cell therapy drug product development is preferred.

• Experience working with quality systems such as change control management system and deviation handling system is preferred.

• Team player with strong communication skills (verbal and written) and an established track record of working effectively in a matrix environment.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $102,400 and $153,600/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
