Managers at any level can have significant technical and business impact.As a Director of Engineering, you will own the execution of software design, development, operations for major components of Oracles Enterprise Applications. You should have technical depth, architectural know how, be a distributed systems generalist, strong people and process manager and able to dive deep into any part of the stack and low-level systems. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.Enterprise Applications charter is to build cloud native services focused on serving internal and external enterprise customers. The service work scope encompasses not just good integration with OCIs native infrastructure (security, cloud storage, etc.), but also deep integration with other relevant cloud native services in OCI (like Oracle Kubernetes, enterprise tools etc.). It includes doing cloud native ways of doing service level patching & upgrades and maintaining high availability of the service in the face of random failures & planned downtimes in the underlying infrastructure (e.g., for things like patching the Linux kernels to take care of a security vulnerability). Implementing SRE principles, automating operations to eliminate time sinks, developing systems for monitoring and getting telemetry into the services runtime characteristics and being able to take actions on the telemetry data is a part of the charter.*Responsibilities:** Provide leadership, direction and strategy* Manage geographically distributed teams and contribute to the success of his/her and other related teams* Identify, recruit, retain strong engineering talent and empower high performing teams* Lean into our technology strategy and lead the charge toward our target state* Demonstrate expertise in cloud engineering and distributed systems* Have prior experience in building and delivering world-class products, running/adept with SRE and DevOps principles* Work with designers and product managers to arrive at a product/service definition and get the definition to an execution plan* Support a highly available and resilient cloud service, and build the supporting systems* Work with the team and outside to get necessary approvals for the architecture and design for the problem at hand* Interact with other service leads in OCI, and be able to come up with clear plans on integration with those as needed*Qualifications:** 10 years of experience in software development.* 5 Years of experience leading engineering teams and leadership.* BS in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.* 5 years of experience delivering and operating large scale, highly available distributed systems.* 2 years of cloud experience.* 2 years of experience managing a complex software development project and working in a domain of operating a service.* Sound understanding on Technologies and Languages: Delivery tools (Docker, Jenkins, GitHub), Go, Python, source code management best practices, Terraform.* Very strong understanding of application performance concepts like scalability, availability and resiliency in cloud environment.* Demonstrated ability to identify and recruit very strong engineering talent.* Experience at an organization with strong operational/dev-ops culture.* Possess an automate everything mindset, from CI/CD based deployment to team collaboration* Scale systems sustainably through mechanisms such as easy to use tooling and automation.
