We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-driven individual to join the Gene Delivery Process & Analytical Development team and lead the development of next-generation technologies to enable non-viral delivery for our cell therapy processes. This Principal Scientist will be responsible for developing novel nanoparticle technologies from early strategy and project conception through technology development.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop nanoparticle formulations (i.e., LNPs) to enable delivery of multiple payloads (RNA, DNA, protein) into primary T cells for cell therapy applications
  • Develop methods to implement nanoparticle technologies into cell therapy processes
  • Transfer nanoparticle technology to internal and/or external GMP manufacturing
  • Manage five direct reports
  • Author technical reports, patents, and peer-reviewed publications, and contribute to regulatory documents

Basic Qualifications:

  • Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or related discipline
  • 8+ years (B.S., M.S.) or 4+ years (Ph.D.) of experience developing nanoparticle technologies
  • Familiarity with lipid synthesis and design of novel lipid compounds
  • Familiarity with lipid nanoparticle formulation generation with microfluidic mixing instrumentation, as well as LNP characterization methods (DLS, Ribogreen, HPLC-ELSD, etc.)
  • Familiarity with mammalian cell culture, preferably with primary cells
  • Previous work interfacing with contract manufacturing and development organizations
  • Familiarity with developing GMP manufacturing processes for globally-regulated products, such as vaccines, biologics, or cell & gene therapies
  • Effective communication skills with proven ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Previous experience managing and mentoring scientists
  • Strong organization, time management, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Experience and working knowledge of concepts including but not limited to immunology, gene editing, cell therapy, etc.
