The Worldwide Commercial Strategy & Forecasting team is a dynamic member of the best-in-class Business Insights & Analytics “BI&A” team at BMS. The team is a trusted thought partner for Commercial Leadership, and other key matrix organizations such as Global Drug Development, Finance, Regulatory, Access & Pricing, Competitive Intelligence and Market Research, who provides strategic guidance and objective data-driven insights with an “enterprise hat” to help shape the most critical decisions in our leading pipeline. This is an important role within BI&A that requires disruptive and strategic thinking to enable greater commercial success, improve value to our patients and impact future development outcomes across a wide spectrum of serious diseases.

The Director, WW Commercial Strategy & Forecasting - Hematology reports to the Vice President, WW Commercial Strategy & Forecasting and is responsible for transparent and defendable revenue forecasts in support of the WW Hematology Commercial organization. The individual will need to partner effectively cross functionally to align on forecasts in support of the long-term financial plan, ongoing governance/investment decisions and portfolio strategic choices. Lastly, as a leader within the WW Commercial Strategy & Forecasting team, this individual will be responsible for continuing to cultivate a high-performing BI&A culture across the >10 team members (including BMS headcount and full-time consultants) and broader BI&A/BMS organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the key point of contact / strategic partner for VP of WW Commercial Hematology and multiple therapeutic Brand Leads (Executive Directors / VPs) across a wide range of assets
  • Partner with Worldwide Commercial and Early Asset teams to perform business case assessments for development decisions and advise lifecycle leaders on significant developments
  • Accountable for generating, presenting, defending, and maintaining forecasts of products and markets with a high degree of precision and insight
    • Identifies, gathers, and rigorously analyzes information to generate a deeper understanding of customers, brands, diseases, markets and competitive environments
    • Proactively and continuously assess the relevant marketplace and its dynamics, customers, and competitors
    • Provide an unbiased point of view on the performance of markets/brands, supported by facts and evidence
    • Provide context for decisions, both disease area and portfolio context, to help teams understand how decisions will be perceived by senior management / late-stage portfolio committees
    • Lead the synthesis of data generation and insights from multiple sources (primary and secondary) and develops realistic, insightful and actionable recommendations to inform forecast assumptions, but also marketing strategy
  • Collaborate effectively with a broad set of business counterparts (including Commercial, Market Research, Analytics, Pricing & Reimbursement, Strategic Options & Analysis, Demand Planning, GPS, GDD and Business Development) to plan and execute accurate revenue and volume forecasts
  • Develop and deliver clear, concise presentations that synthesize disparate data (market research, secondary data, etc.), and that demonstrates a deep understanding of the market dynamics, competition, and brand
  • Conducts retrospective analyses & enables organizational learning leading to performance improvement
  • Ensure the consistent use of industry-leading forecasting approaches & methodologies across the entire product portfolio
  • Partner to create and foster an approach to developing seamless collaborative cross-functional analytics teams/and holistic cross-customer analysis
  • Understand, demonstrate, and drive adherence to all BMS operating policies

Qualifications & Experience:

  • The position requires >7 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry with extensive experience working in Hematology and/or Oncology
  • The position requires >2 years of pharmaceutical brand forecasting (preferred)
  • Graduate degree (MBA or other) preferred; BA/BS required (quantitative area of study preferred)
  • Ability to synthesize complex information sets & successfully communicate simply to the senior TA leaders – leading to smart & data-driven decision making
  • Experience operating successfully in a complex organizational environment
  • Experience interacting with senior management, understanding, anticipating, and fulfilling their insight/ analytical information requirements
  • Extensive experience in the application of forecasting, advanced analytics and reporting techniques to solve business problems
  • Ability to effectively communicate with & strategically impact therapeutic area leaders
  • Proven track-record of seamlessly managing multiple individuals across an organization
  • Draw inferences from disparate pieces of data, identify key findings and link to implications and provide recommendations
  • Strong creative problem-solving skills to answer key business questions
  • Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects and priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to quickly gain and apply therapeutic knowledge
  • Ability to learn new tools quickly
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with diverse teams across organizational lines and structures
  • Proven knowledge of medical or healthcare marketplace dynamics
  • Proven ability to lead teams, influence cross-functionally and manage a heavy workload
