Position Summary:

Pharmaceutical congress, events and HCP meetings form a critical engagement channel with complex industry code, regulatory and statutory requirements at local, country, and regional levels. The Worldwide Events and Meeting Capabilities team sits at the center of this dynamic environment and is focused on developing, scaling and harmonizing key capabilities across Events and Meetings management team. The HCP Meetings Capability lead will provide strategic planning and functional leadership around enabling new capabilities and evolving existing capabilities to drive a simplified user experience internally, as well as seamless user experience externally and in harmony with other omni-channel capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with WW Events Management, broader Omni-Channel Capability organization, Congress Management, IT, Market Research, Compliance, Transparency and Global Procurement teams to define meeting capability needs that support meeting execution, improve operational efficiencies, and drive a superior customer experience at BMS meetings and events

  • Define near and long-term objectives to identify and enhance core capabilities around HCP experience, simplification, and usability for internal/external partners

  • Lead agenda and discussions with Senior Leadership Steering Committee meetings

  • Ensure partnership across market teams on requirements definition and prioritize areas of greatest impact

  • Establish governance model to support intake of requests and future enhancements

  • Lead continuous improvement efforts across Congress and EMCoE teams to evolve baseline capabilities by leading process mapping exercises to ensure analytical rigor in process evaluation

  • Partner with market research organization to understand HCP needs and wants to identify and define transformational capability initiatives based on industry trends and analytical rigor in order to improve their overall experience at events

  • Provide business process leadership for key meetings and events capabilities, in partnership with WW Events Management, Congress Management, Omni-Channel Capabilities, IT, Compliance, and other Global Business Operations teams

  • Supporting the deployment of strategic initiatives within the BIA Commercial space

  • Management of day-to-day activities, governance and evolution of key strategic partner engagements

  • Focuses on collaborating with Enterprise teams and a Project Coordination team to oversee day-to-day team operations

  • Manage resources (FTE and consultants) to ensure successful training, rollout and adoption of new processes and capabilities

  • Lead HCP Capability manager in diagnosis of capability gaps, project mgmt. and sustainability efforts to identify, measure and deploy capability improvement efforts

  • Seek to understand the full end to end process with a high level of ownership to resolve open issues

  • Look for highest priority opportunities and gaps across the organization and create a strategic roadmap and vision in an undefined space

  • Evaluate and evolve key performance indicators across Events and Meetings team

  • Understand capability maturity within each market and support scalability & consistency across other markets where possible and appropriate

  • Proven experience providing Project Leadership to drive strategic initiatives to completion across matrix teams

  • Has experience leading cross-functional initiatives through DMAIC project lifecycle (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control)

  • Provide root cause analysis to determine the source of process inefficiency and develop business case and strategic plan to resolve process inefficiencies

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on HCP control procedures; provides appropriate guidance and direction to business partners

  • Viewed as a trusted advisor and develops diverse business relationships and teams

  • Participate in goal setting, appraising personal performance against team goals, supporting team members in their respective endeavors, and seeking ways to enhance the collective teams’ engagement

  • Demonstrate success working in a matrix environment and developing effective relationships with business and functional partners at all levels of the organization.

  • Develop the ability to effectively communicate, impact, and influence various levels of management/staff within BMS

  • Leadership experience in selecting, leading, developing, motivating, and achieving results through teams in a global context

  • Exhibit strong negotiation and influencing skills to entertain variety of viewpoints and create positive outcomes for all parties

  • Exposure to senior management while gaining a heightened awareness of the importance of cross-functional networks to achieve business results

  • Create a strategic roadmap and vision in an undefined space

  • Advocate and develop business process improvements and enhancements

  • Serve as a team representative on process transformation and implementation teams

  • Develop the ability to understand and assimilate a broader range of information solutions that can enable business needs

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Lead and guide colleagues across the globe in HCP meeting processes, defining transformational and continuous improvement initiatives based on company direction, industry trends and analytical rigor

  • Support design and deployment of HCP tools and processes

  • Facilitate discussions with senior stakeholders supporting a simplified approach

  • Partner with process and system owners in all areas involved in the HCP meetings and events experience

  • Proactively communicates to ensure BMS stakeholders are operating efficiently, knowledgeably, and compliantly

  • Manage the creation of Change Management and Training Materials as needed

  • Recommend process improvements discovered through performance monitoring

  • Business or engineering undergraduate degree, master’s degree desirable

  • 7-10 Years professional experience in the Pharmaceutical, or Consulting practices

  • Experience leading or supporting global initiatives from concept through close-out

  • Experience supporting enterprise systems and large-scale process and system related change initiatives

  • Demonstrated ability to take a strategy and develop/run large scale multi-function, multi-year enterprise projects including people, process, technology, policy

  • Strong knowledge analyzing business processes, gaps, and training documentation

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills and training others

  • Expertise of Global HCP processes also a plus, in order to act as Subject Matter Expert across the following areas: Contract Management; Payment Management; Meeting Management; Reporting / Data Analytics; Legal / Regulatory / Compliance Needs

  • Demonstrates ability to deal with unstructured, relatively difficult assignments that will require effective communication and organization skills

  • Establishes strong working relationships with Leadership, key stakeholders, and team with a focus on change agility, enterprise, and growth mindsets

  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills are necessary

  • Ability to operate through influence rather than authority

  • Ability to assess and promptly resolve problems
