Leidos is hiring a Linux Systems Administrator - Active TS/SCI Required. All work is onsite in Suitland, MD.

The HOPPER mission is to provide information technology services to fully enable ONI and the Navy to meet mission requirements. The ISC Operations (ISC-O) Department is an integrated workforce of civilians, active duty and Reserve Naval professionals who support combat operations and provide vital information for planning America’s defense against maritime threats at home and around the world. ISC-N3 Operations provides Enterprise Operations support to the ONI customer community at the National Maritime Intelligence Center (NMIC) facility, to Department of Navy (DON) Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF) in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Contiguous United States (CONUS), and to shore SCIFs supporting commands subordinate to United States Fleet Forces (USFF) around the world, all on a 24/7 basis. The work for this order shall be performed by the Contractor in the NMIC, located in Suitland, MD, the Pentagon, NSF-A, and other National Capital Region (NCR) facilities.

In this role, you'll routinely work independently to achieve critical mission objectives necessary to continue smooth operations for Hopper, and other internal and external agencies. You'll also collaborate with different internal and external customers and other experts to develop technical solutions to complex problems which not always immediately identifiable in order to timely meet mission objectives.

Primary Responsibilities

*Act as the Subject Matter expert responsible for recommending, and developing system administration solutions for the Hopper ISC as well as lead and provide System Administration support for LINUX RHEL Mission Applications, including the installation, configuration, administration, support and maintenance of systems, including associated hardware. These responsibilities include management of systems infrastructures, identifying and implementing best practices and recommending system functional specifications, configuration of physical and virtual systems, backup and recovery of IT infrastructure and implementing critical patches, reviewing systems performance logs to identify anomalies and troubleshoot issues.

*Work independently or with others to verify and ensure all system assets are being monitored and are in compliance with the latest governance and best practices and ensure appropriate system logs are being captured and reviewed, objects are properly labeled, and key applications and hardware are monitored.

*Coordinate across IT domains and multiple teams (internal and external) and influence Farragut leadership regarding solution design, process and/or approaches to ensuring all Linux systems are up-to-date, working efficiently and ensure all mission requirements are met.

Other duties include, but are not limited to:


*Backup and Restoration: Ensure no undocumented potential or actual loss of data from Mission Systems thru combination of sound system configurations and scheduled / confirmed backups of Mission Systems, system configurations, and resident data.


*Schedule Maintenance Activities: Develop, Plan, schedule, and execute all maintenance activities to minimize disruption of use of Hopper Mission Systems or Hopper Mission Applications.


*Change Management: Provide written recommendations to update mission applications prompted by events such as OS Updates, other software updates, or requests from users for newer functionality

*Lifecycle Replacement of Hardware: Analyze systems, and provide a white paper with written recommendations and specifications for the replacement of all system hardware prior to its planned end of life date.

*Manages the day-to-day responsibilities of all team’s ensuring that all deliverables and government tasking is fully met

*Troubleshoot and resolve system-related incidents detected during monitoring, by other technical teams, or reported by users

Basic Qualifications

Active TS/SCI clearance

GSEC or Security+ (CE) or SSCP

BS/BA in a related field and 12+ years of relevant experience or a MS with 10+ years of related work experience; additional years of related work experience may be accepted in lieu of degree

8+ years of experience with systems administration

10+ year’s technical experience/knowledge of installation, configuration, and security of server environment

Expert knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) System Administrator and Network technologies and protocols

Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills

Work with virtual environments

Salary to be determined by applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, internal equity, market data, and contractual requirements.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $101,400.00 - $156,000.00 - $210,600.00
