Job Summary

Amentum is currently seeking an Application Programmer II (Python) to support an IT Managed Services program for the Department of Energy. The overall program includes a 500+ work force performing Enterprise IT support, Service Desk, and Telecommunications support across multiple facilities and locations, for classified and unclassified telecommunications and information technology (IT) systems for National Technology and Engineering Solutions of Sandia (NTESS).

The Application Programmer II (Python) would support S&E Physics, whose vision is to deliver secure next generation technical information solutions for the nation's nuclear deterrence lifecycle. Our Mission is to provide connected, innovative, digital solutions for component science, engineering, and production. Continuous adherence to SNL Cyber policies for technical work is required for all services. Continuous adherence to SNL Security and Safety directives is required. Interface software development with primarily with Python, but C# and C++ occasionally.

Duties:

  • Design and develop interfaces to advanced hardware to execute experimental measurements.
  • Discuss requirements with end users.
  • Implementing hardware/software interfaces, optimizing/refactoring existing code and implementing new features requested by experimental team.
  • Develop and test software interfaces to hardware in Python and JavaScrip.
  • Document all work requests in trouble ticketing system.
  • Participate in all status/team meeting.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have a Bachelors Degree in Physics, EE, Computer Science or related field and 6 years of experience OR Associates Degree and 10 years of experience OR High School Diploma / GED and 14 years of experience.
  • Must have a SECRET or DOE L clearance and the ability to obtain an TOP SECRET (TS) or DOE Q clearance and maintain it for the life of the contract.
  • Knowledge and use of one or more programming languages is required, including Python.
  • Experience of at least 1 year with interface programming.
  • Experience with 3 years of script programming.
  • Experience designing, delivering and maintaining medium level software development efforts for critical business needs.
  • Experience programming Python, or C#, C++.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 to 3 years of experience in scripting programming
