Junior Network Engineer

We are looking for a Junior Network Engineer to work collaboratively with colleagues and our customer in an exciting and critical LAN/WAN environment delivering technical service in a dynamic ITIL environment.

Required Experience

  • Understanding of Cisco Enterprise LAN environments, monitoring, administration and troubleshooting. Ideally to a CCNA/ JNCIA/ PNCSA / NSE2

  • Hand on experience in troubleshooting Layer 2/3 switching and routing,

  • Hands on experience with monitoring platforms such as SolarWinds, PRTG, iMC, knowledge of MiB’s and OID desirable.

  • An awareness of network routing protocols such as BGP or MPLS

  • Hands on experience in configuring and troubleshooting one of; Palo Alto, ASAv and UTM Firewalls, Fortinets

  • Platform focus: Cisco, HPe, Aruba

  • Experience with Alerts, Traps, SMNP v3, Network Maps, Utilisation, Interface statistics

  • Experience dealing with third parties or working with external teams is desirable.

  • Excellent communications skills, organisational skills and independent and autonomous working

  • Escalating through technical hierarchy

  • Experience of working in an ITIL framework based Service Management organisational model

  • Experience of working under pressure to raise incidents and escalate faults

The actual work you will perform consists of operational support alongside a diverse, skilled and collaborative team. Occasional travel to other Leidos and customer sites may be required. Keeping an eye on the technology landscape is essential, too – identification of new and relevant technologies to solve problems and make improvements is part of the job.
