What you’ll be doing...

We are constantly innovating to unleash the power of our network and technology and you can ensure we stay at the forefront, providing an unequalled customer experience. You will be a key member of the team focused on the technology evolution of data network services provided to external and internal Verizon customers.

  • Collaborating with team members for development of solutions addressing our network and customer needs through network configurations using common NOS from providers such as Juniper, Nokia and Cisco,
  • Working with defined vendor platform for specific network functions for VPN and Internet services with some ability to develop customer solutions centered on NaaS requirements and develop detailed network.configurations to be worked by Engineering and Operation organizations for implementation.
  • Defining test requirements to facilitate certification of these configurations.
  • Update your documentation including network design specifications based on your design intent and due to applicable feedback from Operations and Engineering teams.
  • Utilize virtualized resources when applicable for the development of such solutions.
  • Modelling the scale and capabilities for these elements within such environments.
  • Define the expected management requirements for these solutions including for any Automation and IT support and delivery through management networks.

What we’re looking for...

You are an established candidate who is adept at communicating with leadership, team members and peer groups. You are able to develop crisp and detailed network designs which communicate the high level proposals while also having the technical skills to define design documents and router configurations within structured documents to be shared with Operations, Implementation, Lab, and Engineering teams. You develop network solutions in response for network improvement or product development, while seeking consensus from the team and then diligently pursue and publish the solution to stakeholders. People know you for your ability to analyze problem areas and to provide viable solutions. This helps you to work well with partners from other teams and helps build strong cross-functional relationships. Thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, you manage competing priorities with ease, and never lose your laser-sharp focus on meeting tight deadlines.
You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of L2, L3VPN and Internet customer solutions commonly delivered by data networks and SD-WAN when deployed on such networks.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree in Engineering, Computer science or any other related field.
  • Two or more years of relevant network work experience preferable with network NOS such as Cisco or Juniper.
  • Experience in developing data networks designs including hands on work with router and/or firewall NOS to include device configuration using NetConf protocol and use of standard YANG data models.
  • Experience with establishing working relationship with network vendors such as Cisco, Nokia, or Juniper.
  • Knowledge of OpenStack or virtualized hosting solutions and establishment of virtualization or containerization to host network functions.
  • Experience with tools such as Linux/Unix scripting, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Jenkins or with Python, Java scripting, SOAP, Ruby and PHP programming, API development experience based on JSON and XML
  • Knowledge of wireless services delivered with LTE, IMS, 5G.
