What you’ll be doing...

The Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA) Network Eng Ops team functions as the SMEs for all things CALEA. As part of this team you will be a key contributor to our critical mission for Verizon: manage the core CALEA architecture to ensure performance meets business requirements, work closely with the Product teams, Verizon Planning teams, and Law Enforcement Agencies at the federal, state and local level to ensure each product deployed has a CALEA functionality that complies with federal requirements and published standards.

  • Managing performance of the core CALEA architecture to ensure it is operating at peak performance and intervene with operational teams as necessary to maintain established performance expectations.
  • Managing the implementation of new capabilities, and test those capabilities against industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Proactively monitoring the core CALEA architecture and resolve any identified issues.
  • Managing our core CALEA architecture vendor and various product vendors.
  • Coordinating with Maintenance Engineering and HQ Planning to develop standards based CALEA solutions for all new products and services which require them.
  • Coordinating with the vendor and our customers (internal and external) to schedule and implement software upgrades and corrective patches.
  • Performing integration testing, user acceptance and regression, to include developing appropriate test plans and validating that the results meet the applicable CALEA standard(s).
  • Providing timely and accurate updates/notifications to management and other affected groups or organizations during major, critical and catastrophic system events.
  • Providing technical and/or analytical support.
  • Working varying hours, including overnight, to apply patches, perform upgrades or conduct testing.
  • Working with moderate supervision and make sound decisions regarding troubleshooting steps and emergency corrective actions that may need to be taken in order to resolve service-impacting issues.

Where you'll be working...

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

This role may be considered as part of the Department of Defense SkillBridge Program

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of Openstack/Openshift.
  • Knowledge Linux RHEL.
  • Knowledge of IP routing and protocols.
  • Knowledge of the LTE / IMS infrastructure.
  • Experience with Security protocols (IPSec, SSL, TLS).
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a DOJ government issued security clearance or active security clearance.
  • Willing to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree.
  • Knowledge of CALEA.
  • Project management skills to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Interpersonal skills to coordinate with internal/external groups.
  • Ability to operate well under pressure and exercise sound judgment.
